Hi All- I'm changing out my spark plugs tomorrow. I looked all over but could not find the torque specs? Do you all know the foot pounds of torque are recommended for spark plugs? I want to be very precise and don't want to just use the quarter turn method. Thank you!

 

When I changed the spark plugs on my Nissan years ago, I think I torqued down to 20-25 ft-lb. Do it when engine is cold.

That seems like an awful lot of torque for a spark plug

 

I'm not sure but I'm guessing if you ask the spark plug manufacturer they will be able to tell you. I remember NGK use to have all kinds of data on their website from Kia to Lamborghini. It being Sunday tomorrow (at least here) you might have to see if the spec is on the web. What brand of plug out of curiosity?

I am using Bosch iridium tip. I just noticed on the box the torque spec is 21 ft lbs, so you were correct :-)

So are they good plugs? I wanted to use NGK, but my fiancé bought Bosch for me for birthday so did not want to take them back..

 

I think they're excellent. I'm thinking it's pretty hard to buy a bad plug from a major manufacturer these days.
