Which oil do you use?
Ok, will I'm almost due for my second oil change at 10K. I'm thinking Mobile full sythetic or Amsoil and start changing my oil and filter at the 10K interval. Any one have any in put on this, please let me know.
The best weight oil to use is the lowest weight oil that is within OEM recommendation. Let me explain; up to 80% of engine wear is from cold starts. This does not only pertain to cold weather. Cold start means the first start of the day after the engine has completely cooled/drained down. This wear accrues in the time the oil takes to get to the vital parts of the engine (bearings, cams, lifters, etc). The quicker the oil gets to those vital areas the less wear. That being said, the lower the weight the better/faster the oil will flow during start-up. The IS, along with most modern engines are using 5w-20. The “w” represents winter and is the important number to look at when determining cold start flow. The lower the number the better cold flow. There is no need to use 30 weight oil in the IS engine, but it will not hurt the engine. If you feel better using 30 weight oil go with the 0w-30.

Hey Koz,
So every IS Engine (250, 350, F) from 2007 to 2009 comes with 5W30 from the factory and its printed on the engine oil cap & a few other places...
Are you saying this is incorrect??

2TR–FE
Not yet recommended for the UR series (IS-F).
What I'm saying is the 0w-20 will provide the best pour rate (Cold start flow or quickest circulation) and still provide the same resistance to thermal breakdown as the 30 weight oils. UOAs have confirmed this.

I use AMSOIL 0w-30 in my IS F with no issues. Have 11,000 miles on this single oil change oil and it is just as clean as when I put it in. Not even down a quart or anything. Anyone can buy it at COST from AMSOIL direct if you pay 20 bucks and sign up to be a preferred customer just like me. It is cheaper them Mobil 1 at Wal Mart!! And, it is 100 percent Synthetic not a blend like Mobil 1, Castrol GTX, etc. Lucas Oil is the worst thing you can put in your engine, stay way from that for real!

I use Mobil 1, 0w-30 in my current is350, I used to use Amsoil 5-30 in my RSX type S.
I changed oil every 7000 to 8000 miles. Last time when I used Mobil 1 EP, 5w-30 with just 7500 miles the oil came out all black........

Color has nothing to do with the quality of the oil. Send it to Blackstone Labs if you want to know the truth about your oil.
