5w-30 has a higher weight during operating temp.

better protection for your engine if you are putting a lot of load on the engine.

otherwise for everyday normal use, toyota now says 5w-20 is fine for our engines

it could save u mpg like it did for me

Used oil analysis (UOA) for the IS (using quality synthetics) have shown that 10K miles or one year (whichever comes first) is a safe oil change interval (OCI). There is no need to change the filter at six months. There is no oil that can be used for 25-35K miles without doing UOAs every 5K miles after 10K miles. I personally use Amsoil 0w-20 for better cold start flow. Any of the top synthetics are over kill for anything less then 10K mile OCIs.

I've been running my Amsoil 0w20 for 10k with filter changes every 5k, are you saying just stick with the same filter for 10k ?

Yes, I have had two UOAs with no filter change (at 10K miles) and they both showed no filter change is needed. OEM filters.

So the best way to go is Amsoil 0W20 at 10K/1 year?

you can do that with any synthetic.

even dino oil.

but i still like the idea of having a clean filter every 5k.
