Default Engine swap question (V300??)

I have a question.
What would be involved in swapping a 2JZ-GE for a 2JZ-GTE in a 2nd generation (98+) GS300.
What difficulties would you encounter?
Also, if you can get a 2JZ-GTE with a 6 speed from a Supra TT, would it be a good idea to keep the 6 speed for the install or should I get an automatic.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Default Engine swap question (V300??) ANSWERS

Hello
If you want to get someone to do the swap. I have a number for someone that will get the engine and do the swap. I talked with him and he said he could swap the motor for about $10,000. The 2JZ GTE will run you $7000 through him and $3000 to $3500 install. It sucks because he won't do the install unless you get the engine from him. He won't have an engine until May. I'm working with a guy back east (I'm in Cali) on getting the engine and having someone else install it. The good thing about the GTE, is that you can keep the tranny you have now, (I Have e-shift, 2001 Gs 300) he said you might lose the door locks but everything else would be fine, but not CA smog legal. If you are still interested email me and I'll give you the number. Also check this link for another engine I found.

10,000 is alot for someone that just bought a new car, I might wait a liitle bit. But if you are for it I'll help you with what I have found out.
Good luck

This guy is in the US, right?
Your help is greatly appreciated but since I am living in The Netherlands I will have to find someone here to do the swap for me.

So you are thinking of doing the same thing?

richie, why not import the V300?
EPK, if I import I can only get a RHD and since we all have LHD cars here it would be kind of difficult to use as every day transportation.
So I figured I can get a GS300 with a blown engine and get a 2JZ-GTE and make my own. But before I make the final dicision I would like to know what problems I would encounter when doing the swap. I don't want to get in over my head with a car that will not run.
That is why I am asking the experts here.

Default Stand alone engine

I have a guy who says you can bolt this kit that has a 2jZ engine and a turbo at 580hp. It has its own engine computer. If you want the number then let me know.

Has anyone contacted toyomoto in Florida or Sound Performance in Chicago? These shops tune mostly Toyotas, but also do Lexus stuff. I would think they could do this swap, maybe throw in a single turboed Supra engine. Just my 2 cents.

V300 is a model of Aristo that they sell in Japan instead of the GS400. I wish they would sell that car here as well as, or instead of the 400. Maybe that could be there low production super high performance AMG and M-car fighter. 450-500hp will due Toyota, and as we all know that would not be a problem for the engine (2JZ-GTE VVT-I). Maybe they haven't brought it over due to emissions. I guess it's easier to meet emissions level requirements with a NA V-8 than it is with a Twin Turbo inline six. Maybe it's also cheaper to produce the V-8.

Was that for a 2jzgte swap? Because they make turbo kits for the 2jzge that start at like $6000 I think and it will give over 300hp at the wheels which is more than a stock 2jzgte. A stock 2jzge can handle lots of extra power. Look over on the SC300/400 forum. Alot of guys over there are making lots of hp with their turbo kits.
