Default Mobil 1 Trans flush

I just had the trans flush at the Mobil 1 service center and I think they may have forgotten to add the friction modifier additive, will this hurt the tranny? How would I know if they hadn't?

Do you know which Mobil fluid they put in? There is only one that's recommended for our cars and it does not require any extra friction modifier.

I dont know what type II is for mobil. Here are the ones Mobil shows on their website:

Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF
Mobil Dexron-VI ATF
Mobil ATF D/M
Mobil Multi-Vehicle ATF
Mobil ATF 3309
Mobil Type F ATF

The one recommended for our car is the ATF 3309. Everything else is more mostly domestic vehicles or imports that uses Dexron fluid, with the exception of the Type F, whic his made specifically for old ford vehicles.

go ther and ask them to pull up your history to see which they used.. dont tell them which they should have used until theytell you what they used w/o looking at a book... tell em your having slipping issues that you havent had b4 when u used the right mobile fluid b4 whether or not u did use the mobile 3309 or not..

You might be experiencing slipping later on, and/or your shifts will be rough and jerky.

I've had problems with clunky shifting and initial slipping, but overall the tranny pulled OK. I have had one event with limp mode on the freeway. Once I did the flush, the clunky shifting stopped, but there seems to be more slipping in normal mode, in performance mode the car seems to pull and shift better.

I'm not sure why you would change the fluid in the transmission with Mobil 1 in the first place. The only fluid that should be used in the A650E transmission is the Toyota Type 4 or Amsoil ATF since they have been used and tested for a long time. The biggest misconception that people don't understand is that the stock toyota T4 is synthetic to begin with so that's all that I usually use. Just do the simple 20-30k mile drain and fill and you're good to go with our transmission.

you're partly right....the dexron-mercon ATF is the only fluid you can use in fords, but it will work in any other vehicle. i realize the 3309 is recommended for our cars but the mercon will work in any vehicle. Just don't put anything else in a ford product haha.

Wow what an old post!! To clear any doubts, Toyota Type T-IV is rebranded Mobil 3309. Surprisingly, it's cheaper to buy Toyota than Mobil by almost half the price!
