redline limit on built engine
what kind of redline could one get on a 98 Gs3 if he were to upgrade the pistons, rods, camshafts, etc...also what would the complete list be to get the highest redline possible, (within reason) engine control, transmission upgrades...etc and what kind of power gain could be achieved?
Thanks
Thanks
If you're planning to do this for a NA motor then don't waste your time. The time/money spent will not be close to the power you will get out of it. Now, if you're doing it to spool a huge turbo or have a turbo that can take advantage of the higher rpm then it will be worth your while.
My rev limit is currently set at 7500rpm right now. I plan to raise it to around 8000-8500rpm once I get a few things sorted out.
To raise the redline you need to upgrade the following:
Pistons, Rods, Rod Bolts, Camshafts, Valve Springs, Titanium Retainers, Rebuild motor with new higher spec bearings. That should be most of it, but I might of missed one or two things.
You will pretty much need a standalone to run the engine at that level. You have a few advantages because you hold the gear and boost longer. Your top speed per gear increases. My 2nd gear used to top out at 55mph or so, now I can wind it up to around 68mph before shifting.

thanks for the info, yea im planning on getting a turbo eventually...but i want to do it the right way...as in build the engine 100% then get the turbo to match..not the other way around..lol would it be worth getting the 87mm heads? or would it just be a waste of money to get it bored out and everything?
