Arrow Supra LSD Question....

I have been offered to trade my stock GS400 3.26 Rear End for a 4.27 pumpkin with lsd from a NA MKIV supra. I am not certain why someone would want to make this trade seeing as my Rear End is not LSD, but not complaining seeing as I want an LSD.

My question is this.... will this bolt up and perform well? I notice the majority is using the 3.76 LSD. Is 4.27 too high of a ratio for a GS400? I do not have a TC, but it will most likely be my next mod. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

that is high, but if you want low end power, that gear ratio would do it. you don't even need a tc with that kind of gearing.
are you swapping the whole diff assembly of just the guts?

It would be the whole diff assembly. That would be awesome if I didn't need the TC. What do you think it would do with both?

4.27 w/LSD may be hard on the stock tranny, U-joints & CV-joints.

putting on a 4.27 differential would basically be equivalent to having 405ftlbs of torque (at the crank) with the 3.26. No doubt you'll launch harder, but you will have trouble with traction. Not to mention, you're going to be sucking up so much gas since your engine will be revving high most of the time.

I believe lexism has a 3.92 gearing on his GS430 and he's able to spin his 20s off the line. Even 3.92 is a bit extreme.

Do know if Lexism is having any tranny or joint problems? I don't mind the gas because I drive a short distance each day. But being a daily driver I am not trying to kill my GS either.

Thanks for all the imput guys... It is greatly appreciated!

He doesn't have any trouble.

You wont have any problem unless you floor your car all the time. Then again, if you do that, your tranny is expected to go anyways, regardless of the gear ratio.

TC makes you launch harder, but that gearing would be enough. having a TC would be overkill and add stress to your tranny. IMO

you will see a big diffrence in highway driving. your RPMs will be a lot higher than what they are now for highway speeds. if you say you only drive street short distance, than you should be ok. if i were you i would invest in a tranny cooler.
good luck and keep us posted
