Lightbulb What would you choose: LSD or TC

If you'll have to choose betwen LSD or TC and just enough money to purchase one or the other, what would be your choice and why?

Depends on what you are looking for.
LSD: for handling and powering out of turns with good control
TC: for better acceleration from a stop

freeway acceleration is kinda dependent on the TC since if you have the higher stall, the car can rev up a little to get into the power band a little earlier.

For me, I would do the LSD with the lower gearing (3.76) for NA. 3.23 gears with an LSD just didn't cut it for me until I put on my TT.

Well, I was actually thinking about (RMM 3.76) LSD due to much easier installation than TC. My concern with LSD is hitting rev. limiter before tranny, shift one gear higher. I've read something about that. I'm not sure if all LSD units are causing that problem, if they really do?
Lowering gear ratio should have some positive aspect toward vehicle acceleration as well, unless i'm missing something

I like an idea of TC, delivering better acceleration especially from stop, also gas milage will not be affected under normal driving conditions

On the other hand i know that if i get TC first than i'll be forced to buy LSD sooner or later, too much power avalible for open diff.......This is where i'm stuck with my decision

under normal driving, you might be losing gas mileage. It's only when you're above 2800 RPM where you'll be the "same" relative to stock.

Why do you think i'll be losing gas milage under 2800 RPM, is it due to higher stall speed with upgraded TC. Can you clarify it for me, thanks

Get the LSD they are gettng hard to get. The TC is readily available.

The LSD is a blast to drive around corners and has more acceleration than stock. Power to both wheels is very noticeable. Installation is a snap.
3.76 LSD lowers top speed.


TC offers improved acceleration but nothing else. Install costs a bunch.


Have both on my car. I did the LSD first and then the TC. If I had to just do one I'd keep the LSD.


You get lower Gas mileage with both because you will hammer it more.

It's hard to enjoy, since my wife just called me saying she got into accident (2nd within a month)
I'll do some wheel spinning tomorrow i guess

BA GS400: Did you expirience any trans shifting problems with LSD unit?

Got it from "GSpeed" (CL member)

It is RMM LSD 3.76, used for about 10K miles.
Price wise, you gotta be ready to spend about $700-$1000

I've read an older post and people were talking about Supra rear ends (40K miles) going for about $700 as a good deal

Lsd is a mod you feel as much improvement as when you do coilovers. Stability and control is much better than before, other than that i need more time to comment on this since i've put about 50 miles on the car today. I'll keep my excitment up to date

I've not had any tranny 'bad-ness' since the new rear-end went in a couple of months ago. It *feels* like it shifts a little faster though!

Did you notice anything different??

Actually no problems with shifting so far. Do you think it is a good idea to reset ECU so engine and trans will learn new settings?
