So no leaks around the MAF gasket or the other tubing connections?
It's not really a cold air intake if there isn't atleast a heat shiled installed with it. You are actually getting hot air now that you are mixing it with the hot engine compartment.
If all else fails, put back the stock intake and see if the problem goes away.
If it goes away, then I might suspect that there is something wrong with the design of this intake.
Try all the above and let us know what you find out.
i just installed an aluminum intake on mine also (DIY Joe-Z style) and the 1st thing i noticed is instant heatsoak once the car warms up. you might want to invest in a heatshield...
thats where you went wrong, not to be a **** or anything but you get what you pay for, i know a intake is a intake ( in theroy) but i actully have heard bad things about the junk on ebay!! and also did you have to rig the air flow sensor or did it fit in perfect cuz not having the sensor in properly might have somthing to do with it
1. Could be the MAF needs time to adjust
2. The air filter was more restrictive
3. The hot air meaning the oxygen content was less than before for the CFM (Cubic Feet per minute) for example
4. The intake is longer than OEM (I have had that issue when I modify intakes)
5. The intake is narrower than OEM
