Default SRT Intake

I'm thinking about getting this mod. Specially now since it's on Sale for $475.00 Shipped. I need an opinion maybe even a sound clip of what this sounds like. I'm a real estate agent and I take clients in my car often which is why I'm asking. Any help is appreciated.

If you have any concerns over an increase in sound, don't get the SRT intake. It's very loud inside the cabin.

BTW, can you please shrink your signature down a bit? Max size on CL is 450 x 100

Don't do it, you won't notice the small hp increase. All you are really gaining is noise. If your looking for performance, buy a torque converter instead. That's a mod you can actually feel.

That's why I took mine out and replaced it stock. It gets very annoying and very unprofessional when I take other execs. in my car for lunch or golf tournaments.

Default Just got mine...

In my quest for additional power, I picked up the SRT intake w/ECU to replace my K&N FIPK. I realize the HP difference may not be a lot, but I wanted to see for myself if the race ECU made a difference. SRT claims a 30 HP increase, but that still seems optimistic to me...
Very disappointed to find that the SRT heat shield was BADLY scratched up (need to talk to SRT about that). I am interested in the modified intake shield discussed in the link T.L.W. provided. I may just insulate the stock SRT shield (and cover up all the scratches too!)
I ordered this for the tube-both for heat reduction and for noise. I think some of the noise comes from the tube resonating the intake noise from the filter-especially the metal tube SRT uses. Check it out:

Great find! I was thinking about the SRT and was looking for some heat shielding for tube as well. And this stuff looks much nicer than what I was considering.

Well, IMO you should just do whatever you want to do to your car and who cares what clients think about the intake sound? As long as you're not racing around to impress them with your intake noise, and it's not so loud that they can't hear your sales pitch...
After all, they're not buying your car-they're (hopefully) buying property from you right? If all it takes to chase them away is a little bit of "noise" from your intake, then I say good riddance.
On the other hand, you might want to drive or ride in a GS4 with the intake installed because it might be too intrusive for YOU (they are a bit loud for some-even me at times). Only you can decide if it's worth it or not...
As you can see from this thread, there are some possibilities for quieting the intakes a bit. I'm going to go this route and see how it works out.

So FutureGS400, what are your thoughts exactly when you switched to SRT? Any noticable difference to your previous intake in terms of power?

thanks!

Well, I haven't installed the SRT intake yet because I'm waiting for the sound/heat insulation I ordered to arrive for both the tube (see link above) and also some stuff called Kool Mat for the heat shield too. Hoping to keep the intake air cool as possible and also reduce the noise level a bit.... I'll be sure to post results and pics when I'm done.

For your client's sake....I would NOT recommend it.
