Default check engine light problems

Ok, so here's the scenario...

I have a 1999 GS 400 with 107 000 miles. A few months ago, the engine would stall out as I come to a complete stop and try to gas up to go again. I would have to shut the engine off and start everything back up again. This has happened several times. I called up the dealership and they said it was probably because of the gas. I have never put in anything other than 94 octane.

Recently, as I start the engine up again, I would feel the car "jolt" and I wouldn't be able to get the transmission to go past what feels like 1st gear. I don't really know what gear it's in but as I am stepping on the accelerator, the car moves, but very slowly and there is definitely no acceleration. I would have to stop the car completely for about 5 minutes and start her up again. When the car finally behaves normally, the check engine light and both the VSC on and VSC off lights are on. Weird. At least the car can move and I can stop blocking traffic.

When I bring the car to a complete stop, sometimes I feel the engine wanting to stall out. The rpm seems to be lower than usual (about 400 -600).

I have brought the car to the local Lexus dealership where they have run a 2.5 hour diagnostic to find the problem. They tell me that they can't find any problems with the car. The technicians tell me that not even the engine codes stored in the computer indicate any problems. Can this be true? Help!!!!

Any thoughts would be appreciated by this newbie. Thanks in advance.

My friend is having the exact same problem with his Firebird. It is his catalytic convertors. It could also be your mass air sensor but really sounds like a bad cat

I would check your CATs, and your O2 sensors as well. I can't believe you got the Check Engine light on and dealer can't find any codes. I would take to another dealer.

My girlfriend had a 91 Subaru before, when stepped on the gas, it will move so slow, then, it will pick up the speed after like 5 seconds. We took to the dealer, and guess what? The timing was way off. They readjusted the timing belt, and everything run great after that.

good luck.
