Default GS Mufflers >$150....Any Good? Mega Racing - BOMZ

Hello everyone,

I see mufflers for the GS and IS going for less than 150.oo from brands like BOMZ and Megan Racing. Brands like 5 zigen, APEXi, HKS and Borla go for $300-550.00. Could these lesser known brands be just as good? Anyone used a BOMZ or Megan Racing muffler? What does it sound like, any performance gains? Any pictures?

i ever used that kind of mufflers on my civic back in 02... doesnt really do anything other than add loud noise as i cruise by... sold the civic and bought a GS now and I would never put that kinda muffler on mine... IMHO its a $150 waste of money tho... if you just go for the look that better spend it on a nice tips...

genearch,

They colour it that way so that it has the look of titanium. Titanium looks like that when it gets hot.. It is possible the muffler in the pic is titanium, and they'll do a "bait and switch" when the time comes to actually ship the muffler....

$150 sounds really cheap

and i hate to see you spend that money

and have your car sound like the "DRONE MOBILE"

save your money and buy something that will give you the sound you want

i have the BLITZ exhaust and i love it no droning whatsoever just a nice deep throaty sound

when you step on it and i dont really hear it when im just driving

good luck with what ever you choose

Whew - Thank you to everybody that stopped me. I was soooo tempted to ge thte Carbon fiber/ titanium tipped muffler.

I DO NOT want to sound like a civic. Every time I hear one of those bumble bees buzzing by I think - " You DID THAT ON PURPOSE?"

Thanks again guys.

Any recommendations on mufflers that only cost 250-300 a pair? I'm looking for a deep throaty tone, but low and quiet.

id say save up cause for that budget

i dont think you'll get what you are looking for

check the classifieds for used exhaust

i think ive seen a few Apexi exhausts

but the cheapest ive found mine for is $$$645 each muffler

not cheap in the long run but you get what you pay for ..

good luck let me know what you decide to do

a lot of guys have the l-tuned mufflers and they seem to love em

but i dont know what they go for

here you go maaybe he still has it

These are generic purpose mufflers (and waaaaaay overpriced). They require to use your existing mufflers as donor.

Please don't buy the 150 dollar muffler tips. Wouldn't really recommend buying tips at all. They add so much F'n drone it's rediculious. I got rid of my stock mufflers and replaced them with some aftermarket tips, sound ok on start, but they drone so much all the time it's crazy! I would say, if you are gonna go for exhaust, just wait till you have the money to do a full cat-back system. That's worth it, the tips are not! just my .02

I have the universal megan racing mufflers on my car i paid $100 for a pair.... They look good the welds are good and they sound great at WOT. They do however drone at 2k rpm which is kinda annoying but not too bad. Sure beats some of the other exhausts in price.
