Default HERE COMES THE SNOW! LSD vs Open Diff?

Hey guys, were expecting a hell of a lot of snow up here in CT this weekend.

What is better in your opinion? I know the LSD will provide more traction. I've also heard that it can cause unpredictable handling and makes it much easier to break the rear end free in slippery turn. Do the pros outweigh the cons?

As with anything, it all depends on the way you drive. As a former CT resident I can tell you its probably best if you drive something else.

Yeah, I already traded in my 99 TL, and I'm kicking myself for doing it. That thing was a tank in the winter, even with all-season tires.

LSD will help keep the rear end in the rear since you'll be less likely to lose traction and create instant uncorrectable oversteer. But realistically, any RWD with wide, low profile tires is basically a pig on skates when it comes to that sort of weather. Even with dedicated snow tires (which is the only way you ought to even consider getting the GS on the road).

FWIW: I drove around for two winters on snow tires with one of those being with a LSD. It was a great experience. The car was stable and predictable in the snow and that was only enhanced by the LSD.
