It shows on the SRT website a dyno chart for the intake w/ECU a 20 HP increase and 30 lb/ft torque increase for this mod. Seems pretty optimistic, but the dyno run backs up the claim. Can anyone with this setup vouch for the increase? I am reluctant to put up with the increased intake noise if it doesn't make much difference anyway. Thanks for any advice!
Edit: Just realized that SRT does not seem to be CARB legal. Definitely want all my mods to be smog legal here is So. Cal ! (or at least close enough to still pass )

You are correct on the CARB certification. Look at the K&N, think its your only legal option for an intake.
If you do want to read up on the SRT, do a search for 'SRT intake dyno'. There are LOTS of posts about this... some with results close to the claims, most with less.
Thanks Dave, seems like the RMM intake would be CARB legal since they are a So. Cal. company? Kinda cool that you can hear an audio file of this intake on their site! Anyone know if the ECU upgrade is essential with the intake? RMM doesn't seem to offer it with theirs...
After more research, I'm going to go with the K&N setup. CARB certified (or exempt) and high quality, supposedly a bit quieter than SRT. Here is a link to their dyno on a GS4 and a pic for those interested. The dyno numbers seem a bit more in line with what one might expect for an air filter like this (no ECU change).
Hope I did this right...
Lot of the Norcal bunch are driving with the K&N. I'm happy overall but I can't say I felt the 10 HP bump -- I got an intake mainly for looks and sound and the K&N specifically due to CARB cert.
Install is easy, fit is good. Did not add much sound to my car but that's not saying much. I can hear a little bit of intake hiss but most any extra sound is drowned out by my exhaust. It's a lot quieter than other intakes [as heard on other cars].
That's good, I really don't want a loud intake in my new GS! I have an AEM cold air intake in my Honda Accord and it is fairly loud-but sounds healthy under WOT! Just too loud for a Lexus Thanks for the info...
just my .02 worth. i also was going to get the srt, but changed my mind in the end. i ended up buying the weapon r w/ custom cold air box. i cant feel any hp increase...but im told you feel it on teh top end under wot though it sounds very very good. not too loud...but loud enough so that you know something else is under there

Hmmm... could be that 10 HP increase on a 300 HP car is hard to notice.
Just got mine today (man, that was fast!) Looks like very nice quality-hope the stock air box is not a pain to remove like my Accord was!

Isn't hard to remove, just LOTS of pieces. I felt like I was taking the whole engine out.

Hehe, not bad, but when I looked at all the pieces I took out compared to what I put in, I certainly had more on my garage floor after! Plus a lot of empty space under the hood now.
Maybe the extra power comes from weight reduction, not freer breathing. LOL
