Default This part: WTF is it called?

I have decided that this bearing is part of what's preventing my MKIV tail shaft from fitting on to my MKIII transmission.

Basically, the MKIII bearing is bigger than would have come in a MKIV W58, and it won't seat in the housing of the new tail shaft. I need to find the part number for the MKIV version, and then buy it.

Anyone know what Toyota calls it?

Sits to the lower right hand side of the image in relation to the spline.

Thanks.

Do you have to tear apart the trans that far just to change the tailshaft?

It's really not torn apart. I removed the shifter and took off the tail shaft. Everything else is in place.

No ideas for what this part is called by Toyota? Again, I need the MKIV W58 version.

You could just use the mkiii tailshaft and mod the shifter. It really isn't as bad as people think.

I played with the idea after seeing your rendition of the extended shifter. Even bought a section of metal pipe to use.

But, I spent so much time sourcing my MKIV extended shifter housing, the tail shaft, and already bought the brand new short shifter for it. If the 'conversion' is as simple as swapping out a bearing, I'm gonna try that.

I'm sure it's been done before, but I haven't yet seen a MKIII W58 with MKIV shifter installed on to it. I want to give it a shot.

That being said, I'm going to hold on to all of my MKIII accessory parts until I can get the conversion completed successfully.

Good points. Yea, I'd like to see it done, as well.

Elmhurst Toyota e-mailed me a PDF file, but I don't know how to read this thing. It's expanded too far, I don't recognize the part.

How can I post a PDF file?

He thinks it's 33411H that I need...
