Default Who's running the 4 runner distributor cap?

tried clubna-t.com but seems like it's kinda slow over there to answer questions. i'm sure most of you know about running the 4 runner distributor cap on a na-t sc300 to clear the turbo inlet. well anyways i bought (95 2wd cap btw) and installed one last weekend, connected the wires like it was described and of course only 2 holes lined up. tried cranking it up but it wouldn't start, tried it a few more times then finally decided to take off the cap to check what's going on and when i did about 4/5 contacts where gone. looks like the rotor cut right through them and it also cracked my distributor all the way around where the o ring is at. am i supposed to buy one for the 4wd model? i'm kinda scared to buy another one b/c i might do the same thing again to my new distributor i just got yesterday. lmk your experiences.

that could be the reason why my stock rotor chopped those contacts off...can anyone else confirm that you'll need a 4 runner rotor as well?

Im running the 4-Runner cap(for a 93 V6) with no issues and the stock SC rotor. Did you make sure to change the wire combination like it showed on club na-t?

taken from CNA-T:

W=the # on the wire D= the # on the 4Runner cap

W1 - D5
W2 - D1
W3 - D3
W4 - D6
W5 - D4
W6 - D2

The order is different because the 4Runner is a V6. You may want to write the numbers on the cap with a sharpie so if you service the car later, you don't have to worry about which wire goes where.

You will need to change your #1 plug wire. Go to toyota and order only the #2 spark plug wire as it has the added length you will need. Install that wire and you are all set.

Plug in the distributor and set the timing using a timing light to 10 degrees btdc per the FSM.

use a paper clip or wire and jump terminals E1 and TE in the diagnostic port in the back of the engine bay. Attach the timing light to plug wire #1 and aim at the crank pulley if it is lighting up the timing mark at 10degrees before TDC your good. To adjust the timing loosen the bolt holding the distributor flange to the head and rotate to adjust timing.

lol ok people this was my fault..went to autozone just now to get another 4 runner cap but before i bought it i look at the inside of the cap and it looked exactly like mines at home which looked all scraped up...i feel so stupid haha i guess that's how it comes new. gonna go try my old/new 4 runner cap now. and for the broken distributor, i think it was b/c when i tried to start the car on w/ a cap over the turbo inlet (i was in a rush and forgot to remove it) to keep dust out there was a very loud POP, kinda sounded like a backfire. aka paco, yes sir it's more like 312K now ...let's see what'll last longer, the motor or the w58.

SC300_704 - That's good to know, i've got 174k on the clock and it runs like a top "knock on wood" cool to see a 300k+ na-t setup still kickin
