I'm going to hide the rare camera wires a little better.
Would you mind sharing the instructions or videos on how to DIY this hard wiring? I want to do the same and tint shops are charging quite a bit for labor

If so, this would seem to make aftermarket installed dashcams redunant. I asked when this was planned and he mentioned Summer 2022, July or thereabouts. I have not been able to confirm this. It would be great if others talked with their Lexus technicians to see if there is any truth to this rumor.
That would be fantastic if it is true. However with the remote control automatic parking option being promised as a firm option for 2022 and then cancelled, I will only believe it when I see it!

No problem. This YouTube video:
and this one:
I found really helpful.

This is where I grounded it, into the door.

I was nervous about pulling down the weather stripping but it was honestly very easy. I just took my time with everything.
Let me know if you have any specific questions after watching the videos and I'll try to help.

Good luck!

I have received the new cover from FITCAMX for the Digital Rearview Mirror. It wasn't cut perfectly as the top curve is not "high enough" to settle in (see the comparison below - left is FITCAMX and right is Lexus original factory case). I borrowed the Dremel rotary tool from my neighbor and decided to trim those areas that need to be removed by myself (highlighted in the red line). After a few minutes of cutting, the new cover now fits perfectly and I am happy with it. The installation is easy and take less than 15 minutes to complete. All the driving sensors are working fine after the installation. The video quality is excellent - nice and clear.

I've literally spent countless upon countless hours researching dash cams, and I am familiar with this Chinese made dash cam..
This dash cam is absolutely overpriced, and it is an extremely inferior product.

Get about the fact that it does not have a proper fit or finish, but it's actual quality is inferior to dash cams a fraction of its price. The dash cam should actually be priced somewhere in the $70 to $80 range, maximum.

Recommendations?

Viofo version 119 v 3 hardwired or not, both are great. Both have extremely easy install.

Viofo dual cam 4k or 2k

Thinkware 200 series

Thinkware x1000 series when it's on sale, dual cam 4k.

Think where is known to be one of the most reliable dash cams, I believe it's made in korea, it's absolutely wonderful, as long as you do not need Wi-Fi in the x1000. No need for Wi-Fi when you have a three and a half inch screen and the files are so large, it was just take too long to use the Wi-Fi anyway.. this has thermal protection as well as other mechanisms to safeguard against overheating, and again is extremely reliable.

The thinkware is generally known to be more reliable than black view products.

That's it. That what you should be going for.

I just saved you all a lot of time and effort.

Yes. This one is not bad either. Blackview has superior cloud functions....others need to do better in that regard, but I assume you're not using that functionality, right?

Hey guys, can someone chime in on a couple questions in regards to 2 Channel dash cam install on the Nx? It's my first time doing a two Channel with hardwire and I would like to save some money by DIYing.
- What size are the fuses?
- What amp is recommended? I read online most people are saying to use max 5amp fuse
- Will the fuse cover still close after using the fuse tap?
- For the DIYers, are there any risk of accidentally triggering the side airbags when running the wire along the passenger side to the rear of the car?

Thanks in advance.

Fuses are low profile mini and I used 5 Amp fuses for my dash cam (Thinkware F200 pro)wiring. Fuse cover doesn’t close with the fuse tap, but it is underneath the steering column, so it doesn’t bother me without the cover.

I disconnected the 12 v battery before I did the install, so there was no risk the airbags would go off. It is easier to run the wire along the driver side. The most difficult part is to fish the wire through the tailgate grommet for the rear camera.

This would be really cool, to have the feature enabled through a software update! Any idea if this would also apply to an NX350h (with the 360deg parking cams)?

I'm too scared to take apart my car. Is there a good tutorial on how to just hide wires along the trim to get a camera into the USB plug?

There's lots of good videos on YT or take a look at this thread. Personally I will be DIYing the dual channel Viofo A229. What I am scared of is the airbags. So I won't be wiring behind the airbag because that requires popping off the side pillar covers.

Really hoping this rumoured update comes to life. It would be amazing to have panoview cameras record footage

Default Dashcam are overrated?

This guy here thinks that most dashcams are overrated and you should not be attending a ton of money on them.

I agree with him to an extent; why pay so much for purported 4k resolution when you wouldn't be getting 4k? That's money wasted.

I personally installed the Thinkware F200 Pro because of the dual channel and I hardwired it. Got it highly discounted and paid ~50% of the list price. It's a good option because it comes with 1920x1080 resolution (which technically, is 2K resolution). There's tons of videos on YT of how to hardwire your dashcam if you wanna go that route. If you're not comfortable pulling your car apart to do it yourself, then pony up and pay someone to do it.

Finally, I think that except you run a fleet, most personal users do not need to spend a mini fortune on a dashcam. It's there to be forgotten until the moment when you need it... Which may be never. In such a situation, 2K res is plenty fine and except you have the money to burn, you really don't need purported 4K résolution.

Default New Lexus dash cameras?

Reviving an older thread here-

LSFT just posted a couple of videos about a dash camera sold by Lexus in Canada - the "Lexus Genuine Dash Camera: Lexus Accessories | Genuine Parts | Lexus Canada

However, LSFT says this camera appears to be available only on the Lexus Canada website. I'm not sure of the reasons for this, but when I checked the Lexus website here in the USA, I see newly posted information about the "Lexus Integrated Dashcam", which is a completely different camera! Lexus Technology | Dashcam

Both models appear to be endorsed by the Lexus websites, and appear to be amenable to installation by the Lexus service departments, and appear to be new (as of this week?) Neither of these models resemble the FitcamX, which is an independent business that does not appear to be affiliated with Lexus.

Can someone explain the difference between these two Lexus-endorsed models? Is one model better than the other? Why would Lexus offer two different dash cameras in two different countries?

I'm comparing them... and will be producing a video to compare the two. In short, the US one is newer and should have better quality.. I won't be able to test it, but from the specs it does look better, but the FitcamX is 4K... should be sharper still...
