Default Remote Start Question

I recentltly have used the Remote Start on my NX. It works fine but I need help with how to proceed once I get inside.
? Press the brake then the Start button ? Which one first ?
Some times it shuts off the engine, I think when I do it wrong.

When you get in the car is the green "ready" light on ? If so it is running and you are good to go. If the green "ready" light is not on then put your foot on the brake and push the start button and and then green "ready" light will come on and your car is started. Then drive normally.

YMMV,

In my experience, after a successful Remote Start I've still always had to put my foot on the brake and push start. I haven't thought about this in awhile, but I thought somewhere in that long, 2-part video that goes over all the features, the hostess said that it was a 'newer' feature that you didn't have to do all that.

I think you're partially right New2025NX As this is a remote action you initiate it will time out if you never get into the car I think after 10 minutes. When you get in I believe it still wants you to push and hold the brake pedal down and push the start button still. What's new is it doesn't shut off the engine at that point, instead it keeps going, that's the new part. The lawyers still want you to go through those motions once you get in the car so that you are effectively taking over control and saying 'yup my foot's on the brake in case it want's to race off and destroy my flower bed, and I've pushed the go button because I want the engine to pretend it's just starting up now.'

The most likely real reason is the logic programmed into the car to allow you to be the only one with your identifying keyfob that get's in the car and takes over. If anyone else were to get in driver's seat without a fob it wouldn't do anything. So they've added in code that says 'we'll pick up from this point now that we see the fob, and the driver will push brake and start button and be allowed to drive off.' I hope that makes sense.

Just watched video and previous gen use to shut off when you opened driver's door, it doesn't do that on this generation.
watch from time stamp 35:00 for remote start info.
At 37:02 she let's you know nothing will happen and you won't be able to shift into drive or reverse until you hold brake and press start button - so there's the security / safety feature.

I see you both mention "foot on the brake then push start button" I'll go with that -
but where is the green "ready"light located ? Would I have that green "ready" light on a 2025 ?

Hey Amigo (ken) I see you have a non-hybrid 2025 NX 350, only slightly different. Here you go :

"IGNITION ON" will be displayed on the multi-information display when the engine is running. If you remote stat this should be on. If it is not on, then push you foot on the brake and press the start button.

Most Lexus models with remote start allow you to use the key fob. No app or extra steps—just remotely start a Lexus vehicle by pressing a few buttons.
  1. Lock the vehicle: Press the lock button on your key fob.
  2. Press and hold: Within one second, press the lock button again and hold it for about three seconds.
  3. Engine starts: The lights will flash, and then the engine will run for approximately 10 to 20 minutes, depending on the model.

Remote Start Considerations

  • The climate control system activates based on the last settings. For cold Alabama mornings, we recommend setting it on high, activating both the front and rear defrosters.
  • If the doors are opened, the engine will shut off automatically. This is a safety feature to prevent the vehicle from accidentally moving.

Using the Lexus App

For even more control, Lexus offers Enform Remote (now called Lexus App). This method works from almost anywhere with a phone signal.
  1. Open the Lexus App: Sign in with your account.
  2. Find your vehicle: Tap the Remote option.
  3. Start the engine: Tap Start Engine and confirm.
  4. Wait for confirmation: The app will notify you when your Lexus is running.
YMMV,

Thanks, great info.
I’ve been using the Lexus App to start, works fine. I’ll have to try starting it with my key fob also.

PS: I couldn’t remote start mine with my key fob, I tried it a few times. No biggie, the L-app & my iPhone remote start my NX real well.

Don't feel bad about the Key Fob start not working. Keep trying, and on a good day it'll work as well as Close & Lock the back hatch. (OT Can of worms, sorry).
