Lane Centering Assist
Hey All,
Hope you are having a great start to your weekend. We took our '25 NX450h on just it's second road trip today. Two questions regarding lane centering assist for the group.
1. I believe I read in the owner's manual adaptive cruise control must be on for this feature to work. This is not necessary in our Acura products. I wound up setting the cruise speed artificially low (35 mph) since I did not want cruise on. Any way to get the lane centering function without cruise on?
2. It doesn't keep the lane very well compared to our Acuras and past rental vehicles. Is that par for the course or might something be wrong with our example?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

1. Correct, lane trace assist is a sub-function of the adaptive cruise (same as lane change assist, FYI)
2. it generally does ok on straight or gently curving roads that are well marked and consistent. With dramatic curves or extra wide/poorly marked lanes it will wander to some extent.

Thanks for the information. My car definitely did not feel like it would keep a lane among small bends on 1-95 in Baltimore. Will try it again and then possibly have the dealer take a look.
I have a 25 NX450h+ and have had it out on the road with cruise on. I don't understand your plan Why not use cruise control? It will save your bacon when you look away, even for an instant. The lane keeping works great, IMHO, It is far superior to my 2016 CRV and 21 rav4. I understand your frustration, but give the system a chance. Turn on lane keeping and let the system find its track. All you need is a finger or two on the wheel and it does its job. And yes it will get confused at exits, or when the lines are not clear. That your job to monitor. It is not self driving, but close. My suggestion is to set your cruise then turn on LKA, relax your death grip on the wheel and let it find its lane. If you don't like the way it sets up, take it back to dealer and get the LKA tested and reset if needed.
Thanks Happycamper for the feedback. I did turn on the cruise since I wanted LKA, but set the speed at an artificially low rate because setting it to the pace I want to normally travel is not practical in between Philly and Baltimore. There are often times you will slow way down, and then periods where you want to drive much faster. With the LKA on without my input, the car was swerving close to the other lanes and I would correct it. My Integra can go hands off for 20 seconds and stay perfectly centered even around curves.
I'm not sure if the Lexus system uses more of the lane or my example is not working correctly. Any additional input would be helpful in making that determination.

I have a '22 NX350H and live in Niagara Ontario. I've taken a couple of trips down to Florida and experienced these features at great lengths. Strong winds, especially cross winds, wreak havoc on the car's ability to smoothly make adjustments to the steering inputs. It can get choppy at times, it even gave up on me once and turned it off. Plus as mentioned earlier only good well painted and consistent road markings work well. Otherwise it tries to find a clear delineation of the curb or road side edge to determine how to keep it centred. So if the soft shoulder isn't perfectly identified by either gravel or grass or a line along the edge then it's gonna make a guess and keep changing as things change. The other is when your driving in the right lane and an offramp lane opens up, if there's no markings it thinks the lane your in just got much wider and tries to recentre on the 2 lanes width combined. It's not perfect and some other manufacturers do a better job I would say.
It works pretty good for most typical scenarios. You can enable the Curve speed reductionfeature as well if you've got plenty of turns on your highway. It''ll drop down the speed a bit when turning so you don't get freaked out and it's more relaxing. But I always have LDA on and use LKA and Adaptive Cruise on in harmony. You have to get use to the 'alert' tugging on the wheel, and adaptive cruise will make sure you keep your distance from cars in front of you and in stop and go or heavy traffic.
