Are key cards returnable if the service dept cannot program it? Do I only need the keycard, manual key, and programming? It looks like 8990H78621 is not compatible with NX base with VIN that starts with 2. Can someone tell me the correct part number for the card and key? Also, how much is the cost for programming the card and cutting the manual key?

I think these are the part numbers below for both the card and key — but please confirm for yourself or call to make sure.
You’re still within the Sales dates and Treasure Coast is slightly cheaper. The cost can vary depending on dealership or reputable locksmith.
Good Luck and please update this thread and let us know the outcome.
I have a key card for my 2024 NXh but never use it because I was once told it could "go dead" without warning and leave me stuck with no way to start the car.
So, what is the truth about using the card and how do I protect if from "going dead?" Do you simply carry it in your wallet and not worry about it?

Wife has one for her NX and I just got one for my RX. They both work flawlessly. I just get in the habit of every January 1 replacing the batteries. That's way overkill they last much longer but who wants to take a chance. I am sure they're going to flash on your MID screen a low battery warning like the key fob.

Has anyone tried to touch the key card to the start button when dead to see if it works that same as a dead FOB?

There’s a manual metal key in the card to get you inside car. Then do as @gamma742 says below and in picture.

Well, it’s better to be safe than sorry. The batteries last 1-2 yrs so not really overkill.

Great point — I have not had to do this yet with my fob as batteries were replaced at dealership during regular service interval.
