Doesn't matter to the customer. As long as they work. The dealership is not going to cancel a sale over a couple hundred dollar key

If I remember correctly, I haven't received anything in writing, only a verbal mention from the salesperson. However, you will get a notification on the Lexus app when the second one is available for programming.

Unhappy 5+ months later..no key

After we purchased the car and were ready to drive away, we found out we were NOT getting a second key. Lexus pulled one on us! It has been years since we bought a new car from Lexus and we felt like we were dealing with a new type of dealer. No calls back, missing a few things that we’re supposed to be with the car. They just put us off and said anything to get us out the door. Plus, we really do not like the new NX Hybrid. The dashboard gets to 125+ degrees and heat is hitting you in the face while you drive. The new no door *****, but a magnetic pull which is annoying. The radio sucks and the entertainment radio controls are not good. We have put insulated material to block out the heat pouring in from the sunroof. The seat heater and steering wheel heater come on at mysterious times by themselves. Anyway, I think we are going to trade it in for a different brand….no more Lexus.

Sorry to hear. If you look at a Genesis read reviews. Worse service ever. My best experiences are from BMW. and PORSCHE.

Why not just close the sunroof cover?

The seat and steering wheel heat will do that when it "auto" mode. Just turn it to manual.

I think you'll need to read the manual a bit more to understand how the system works and why the steering wheel heater and seats come on. I'm surprised you didn't test drive it enough before buying it. Good luck on the next brand and I'm sure you'll love whatever you pick, but make sure you test drive and spend time before you commit to the next brand/model.

Well said... We choose the NX350 at first for the safety features and size. Was comfortable test driving so we became owners. Otherwise we never know what we have until we have it. I have a major reason not to never buy a Lexus again but we did. It's an incredible value. Having a reputable dealer is the difference. And having owners/posters like you makes a difference...Thanks for your constant constructive input.

I am calling BS one way or another on the ship shortage for keys. The chip shortage myth was debunked a while ago in general. They are playing some sort of game likely as simple as we'll ship one key and if the customer doesn't complain enough we'll never give him/her a second one which will turn into, We are not giving our second keys anymore because there is no demand.... Blah blah blah. Some much annoying corner cutting these days courtesy of rampant inflation.

Well, most owners did get their second key... so it's not like they are avoiding to give you a second keyfob.

Yea, I tend to agree. My colleague that bought an NX a few months before me, at his 6mth first service they handed him his second key and his response was "what's this for?". He'd totally forgotten that he still had a 2nd key coming. I received my notification both in the app and by mail when I could get my 2nd key, so they definitely are purposefully getting the second keys out to people even without being asked (at least here in Canada). As to why it continues to be a challenge to manufacture enough keys, idk. When I got my NX, at about the same time at work we had placed a large order for dozens of new computers, servers, and Cisco switches and WiFi APs. They all trickled in between 6 to 15 mths after order. But these days it does seems relatively easier to get that kind of stuff.

I disagree, I got my second key as scheduled without needing to contact them or ask. It was exactly the timeframe promised, and they reached out to me to let me know it was ready.

Completely false. They handed me my second key at my first service, four months after I bought the car. Others here have had a similar or better experience. They did what they told me they would do without any contact from me.

In fairness to staff in Lexus dealership, I know the salesperson I bought my NX450+ and she felt bad about me not getting my 2nd key fob with car. It's a corporate issue. I got an email from Lexus Canada regarding 2nd key fob around 6 months time to book an appointment to pickup. I love the drive in my Lexus and now with winter tires.
