Default Complimentary Service

Hi! New member here.
I'm closing on a used NX 300 (Not bought from a Lexus Dealer)

One question: the car has 6159 miles and is just under a year old. Am I entitled to the second complementary service even though I am not the original owner?

If so, 2 followup questions: The original selling dealer is far away. Can I bring it to any Lexus Dealer?
Also, since it is almost 1 year old, should I do it now or wait until it has 10,000 miles (or do I have a choice)?

Thanks in advance! :-)

You are entitled to the 2nd service and any dealer should do it. No reason to do it early just wait until 10k, you get oil, oil filter, and cabin air filter out of it so its worth doing.

Thanks!

I have one follow-up question. The Lexus service interval says 12 months or 10,000 miles, whichever comes first. I would really prefer to wait till 10,000, but I don't drive much, and maybe won't reach 10K till the car is 18 months old. I'm concerned the Lexus dealer might say "too late" for the complimentary service?

I'm not sure about that, i'm sure there is some leeway there, but it may just depend on the dealership.

Isn't this a question you would be better off asking your closest/preferred Lexus dealer?

This forum is an excellent source of information, but it would seem not every Lexus dealer may answer your question the same way, and you may end up disappointed if you don't write or talk to them first.

If you create an owners account at https://drivers.lexus.com/lexusdrivers/, you mnay find the answers to your questions there. My account warned me when my complimentary service was due, and offered to make the appointment for me.

My warranty booklet reads "First complimentary oil change must be performed at 10,000 miles or 12 months, whichever occurs first". This seems to clearly rule out waiting for another 6 months. Another poster on this forum reported he had to pay for his first oil change because he was 3 weeks over the 12 month complimentary service deadline. I do not know if every dealer will apply a similar interpretation.

Very helpful! Do you happen to have the link for the poster?

I had an IS that I drove about 6,000 miles a year. Several times I was late, relying on the miles rather than the month. They suggested I base my intervals on months instead of miles, but never denied me anything. That said, I never needed any warranty work, so I don't know how that would play out.
