What is everyone's experience with the Lexus dealership service center?
Own a 2016 NX under L Certified so we have free inspections every six months. We go to one in the tri-state area. Have done about 4 or 5 inspections to date - here are some of our experiences:
During our first inspection, the service manager came with a list of ~10 things we can fix with the car and we ended up paying ~$200 for A/C filter replacements. After this experience, we figured out the trick.
Our last and final inspection, which is ~2 years after we purchased the vehicle (3 years after manufacture date) and ~15k miles on the odometer, the service manager tells us that the brake needs to be replaced (~2mms left) and will cost ~$600. I did a quick google search and found that other places charge ~$400 and told them that. They immediately "found" a coupon for 25% off. Waited three hours for the repair. Know break pads depend on driving style but for our previous vehicles we generally replaced them every 3 - 4 years and 30k+ miles.
Additionally, we usually end up waiting ~2 - 3 hours for each inspection. Waiting room is decent with pastries, coffee and water though!

Pit Crew
They are a bunch of clowns. My NX gets about 5000 km per year and they keep wanting to rotate my tires and change my brakes.

I think there is a wide variation in dealership experiences - just as there are differences between political parties. I have had excellent interactions with my dealership and I do not believe they have ever tried to encourage an unnecessary repair. The finance people have encouraged things I didn’t need when buying cars, but they didn’t press too hard once I indicated my wishes. My point is you will find there are good dealerships and bad ones out there, just like any other profession or business (or politician...).

I had $300 stolen out of the console at my dealership. Of course I take full responsibility for leaving it in there, I can’t believe they actually took it. Oh well, can’t get it back now. I let the service manager know, but he didn’t seem too interested.

my dealership offers pick up and delivery of car for warranty repairs....so never really met the service dept yet. I have been a customer 15 yrs tho....on my old is250 they told me I needed new rear axle whatnot as it was leaking....I drove it another 25k miles and then traded it in to em. my rational was never saw a leak on my epoxy garage floors where it was parked.
My Lexus dealership in Portland, Oregon is the best!!
I don't go there often because they offer free pick up of my NX for all routine service and leave me a brand new loaner to try out, even though I live in Washington state.
When I do go to the dealer my service advisor is very helpful, and has more than once spared me the expense of an unnecessary service item. On one occasion I asked them to perform an expensive inside and out detailing, which they did, but only charged me half-price because "your car was in pretty good shape when you brought it in." Additionally, they've performed a couple of "dealer only" adjustments for free well past the first six month inspection where they are normally done for free.
Yes, fruit and pastries and many assortments of coffee, tea and other drinks are on offer, and of course it's fun to inspect all the new cars in the showroom and on the lot.
And best of all, the sales people there are so low key, you end up selling yourself the new car...I've bought three there.

The real question though is, did you pay for critical blinker fluid?Originally Posted by silander23

no free lunch. like that free motel stay after you attend their timeshare seminar..Free inspection means they are free to suggest unnecessary maintenance.. I always goto Toyota dealership. You get oem parts, cheaper labor rate .., lifetime alignment at Firestone etc. Also note Pepe Boys even orders brake pads/rotors etc direct from Lexus if you decide to skip their wagner pads. They have techstream and everything. The only time I go to Lexus dealer is if I need to checkout any new lexus models, crave some free gourmet coffee/snacks or warranty service )

Lexus of Chattanooga was not so great in 2006 when we bought our first pre-owned Lexus. Although a gentlemen there did run the service history of the vehicles I searched for online, which was really helpful. The service left a lot to be desired. Things have changed dramatically since 2016 when we started getting a CPO Lexus serviced there. I could recommend it highly after our experience since 2016, both in sales and service.
