Default front license plate bracket size help

IL requires front plates. However the size is totally off. The height of the bracket is smaller than IL plates. It looks like almost designed for those narrow European plates. Previous/first owner of my cpo from carfax was from IL so no idea how he installed his plates. I went thru a car wash and it warped my plates. Someone here must have had this same issue. Looking for ideas and solutions. Toe hook brackets not an option since this thingy is already installed.. Pic attached. Thanks

Default NX Front Plate Bracket

Your bracket appears to be the correct piece for the NX, get a license plate "stiffener", a backing plate and mount
it with a metal rather than plastic plate frame including lower mounting hole nuts and bolts through all three pieces.

Yep. Contemplated moving to England but then I would have to move the steering wheel to the other side which may not be worth the cost... :-)

Drove to Toronto for our Honeymoon and my bride was driving the leg through Detroit and Windsor Ontario.
As we came out of the tunnel I saw that the six lane downtown Windsor street was empty...
"Hey honey, you know they drive on the other side of the road in Canada, right?
Let her go a good long block before trying to coax her back to the right... still married 34 years later!
