I'm shipping one of my 3GS from USA to Germany. I don't want to get a US sized plate for my car while here because I don't like to stand out as an American. I'm pretty sure that the Euro size plate will fit in the rear license plate cavity, but does anyone know for sure if there is a difference in size for the license plate opening on the US vs European models?

Looks like German plates (European Format) are 520mm X 110mm, which is 4.38" high x 20.44" wide.

Thanks smartass, but that's not what I'm asking.

My car is on a cargo ship right now crossing the Atlantic Ocean. That means I can't measure the opening at this time. I'm asking if there is a difference between the USA and European spec rear license plate opening.
