Not sure if making the RX larger is the right move. I am sure lexus is thinking hard on this one. The RX is best selling SUV for a reason. The RX has made its name as a 5 seater SUV. If it is going to go into the highlander/venza route, I am not sure if it will work. They should have just made the RX smaller and made the NX a 7 seater.

i doubt they will mess with RX at all... it is best selling car, you dont mess with it.

NX is going to be Rav4 sized... so appreciable difference in size.

GX still has high ride height, off road capability and truck-based chassis. I think, that's how Lexus can differentiate 3 row RX and GX.

That describes the LX to though

i dont think anyone ever had trouble seeing the difference between GX and LX.

I do think that GX as today, will go away. GX is not a big seller, actually LX outsells it worldwide, so I am not sure what are they going to do, but it seems like to me that obvious choice would be making larger RX and call it GX.

Prado would also probably sell better if it wasnt limited by GX too.

GX going 7 seater for the next restyling? Although that could be pretty late since the GX just got refreshed!

RX stuck to 5 seater seems the logical choice, but I'm pretty sure that it will grow (just a little bit) so there's much more differentiation between the RX and NX.

There was an interview a few months ago where a Lexus official said there maybe a even smaller SUV/CUV than the upcoming Lexus NX. Most likely something to take on the GLA, X1, and that on and off rumored Q2/Q1?

i'd be very surprised if lexus axed the gx. infiniti also has a 4 ute line-up (ex, fx, jx, qx) - slightly different positioning, but i think lexus will adapt. what i'd expect is rx stays same size, but gx gets a bit 'softer' and a better 3 row vehicle. the lx will get bigger.

I'm surprised by the sales number. I think the 2nd gen looks better.

2006 - 25,454
2007 - 23,035
2008 - 15,759
2009 - 6,235

URJ150 GX 460
2010 - 16,450
2011 - 11,609
2012 - 11,039

Maybe it's just me, but the 1GX was a better looking truck in every way. To this day, it still looks better than the 2GX, even with the refresh (IMO).

it's already 7 seater.

well, thats what i meant too... it wont really be GX anymore, it will be RX based with longer wheelbase. This will also make it cheaper than today, as GX is pretty expensive, as is LX.

The Audi Q3 currently competes in that space. But yes that would be a smart move for Lexus to make.

Yeah, that cassette deck in the 1st-Gen GX just looks hella-dope...................................................

Sales of the refreshed GX were up 65% last month, fyi.

It's true we've had a lot of interest in the refreshed GX. The Spindle is fooling a lot of people thinking it's a new car

I don't think it's fooling people, but it's just that they're actually advertising it and getting some awareness up.
