Hey everyone... So I just moved to Hyde Park, NY for school at the Culinary Institute of America, I have an 08 IS350.... it's still back in Cali but i'll have it out here around sept. So I have a few questions... are there any weekend meets in NY that I could go to when my car gets here? Also.. My car is lowered on H&R springs, should i put it back to stock since it snows out here during the winter? What are some of the laws in this state, like tint laws and such or if i'd get pulled over for a loud exhaust (I have a Tanabe Medallion Touring with a resonator delete)?
welcome to NY. sometimes theres meets on the weekends, and some on weekdays.
springs should be fine for the winter, nothing bad.
front window and windshield is illegal to have any tint, back window and rear windshield i think is unlimited. your exhaust might get hassled for cops if its really loud.
So since it's illegal to have the front and windshield tinted, do cops really hassle people for that? It's illegal in California as well, but I've never gotten a ticket for it... would it be the same around here or should i remove them?
well depends..Long Island is a little more lenient on tints..the nypd cops will pull u over for tints to try and fill their quotas. especially with mods, they know ur a tuner.
leave the mods on lol. Springs will be fine in the winter and LI cops could care less unless your doing something stupid and then will try to get you for everything.
Nassau county tickets can be fought so you have a benefit there..
oh and modded 2is' are not a dime a dozen like in cali lol.
leave the cali plates on and you won't get bothered as much
^ ^ Leave the plates and tell them you purchased the car with the tints already there. Be courteous and let em know you "plan" on removing the tints. If you know anyone who's on the force, ask for a PBA card... it will help 9/10 times.
NYS law regarding tint is must be no darker than 35% tint on front door windows; rear door windows and rear window can be unlimited as previously mentioned. I have had 20% all around on my Black/Black GS and I never had any issues with tickets (had the car for 7 yrs). About a year ago I had my tint re-done to 35% all around. Tinting a front windshield is always a no-no.
Welcome to NY. Winters here can vary...you RWD should be fine...I have winter tires (Dunlop SP Winter sports) that I swap on with my stock wheels when the white stuff starts to fall. I seem to get around no problem. GL!
cops bust ***** in queens. i got pulled over on the belt parkway for tints lol. what highway cop looks for someone with tints?
Brooklyn's highway patrol takes no mercy in issuing tint tickets. After three years of never receiving a single tint ticket, some HP douche issued me 2 of em while sitting in traffic. You could call Barack Obama to vouch for you but it wouldn't matter to them.
