Question Moving into the Rockies...

Okay so I'll be moving to Cheyenne later this summer. I got word that winters are pretty bad and I may need an heater. Is this true?

I currently own an '97 SC, so is it a good idea to get a second vehicle for the winter?

Any other advice/tips are welcome.

Yes it's a good idea. In colorado you will always need a second awd or fwd car if you own a rwd. WELCOME to the mile high!

So if I get another car, will it need a block heater?

Good to know.

How about a cold-start battery?

Well It would help. I've run a Blue top for just over a year now and it helps a little, but for almost 3 years I was just using a normal battery and it might take just an extra crank or two at best.

Having had a number of rear wheel drives including my current GS400 and SC400. I can personal testify that you don't need a second car.

At a mile high we received the same amount of sunny days as San Diego. Between the hot sun and snow tires you should have no problems. The snow is normally melted by mid day. I wouldn't suggest you subject yourself to a FWD.

^^^ Agreed about the only time I have ever run into problems is when the snow gets DEEP so the car can't actually drive through it. But that's just a perk to a lowered car

How often does it snow enough to be too deep to drive through?

Any problems with salt on the road?
