Unhappy no heat gs400

Hello, My 2000 GS 400 acts up when its really cold out <32. I live in Maine and the few cold days we had this year when the car is started the climate controls don't work. I hav eonly been able to get it to work when I turn the car off and restart it several times. Any suggestions.

white5, welcome to ClubLexus sir! When was the last time you had your battery checked? If not for a while, you should consider getting your battery diagnosed before old man winter comes along. There's probably not enough CAs (cranking amps) in your battery to start up your engine every time.

What part of Maine you live in? My family and I used to live in Augusta for many years, up until my high school years. Matter of fact, I'm planning to go back up to Maine this Thanksgiving weekend and stay at my brother's.

Southern Maine near Portsmouth NH, 2 hours south of Augusta. Just had an oil change last weekend and asked them to check out the car to be sure it was all set for winter, they didn't mention the battery when it was done.

It might be worth getting a 2nd opinion from another mechanic or auto service shop like VIP Auto Parts (I think they're all over Maine). Definitely not normal and untimely to have heating probs.

You could also go to the Lexus dealership in Portland, but be prepared to fork over $$$ for any diagnostic check-up

Had my battery checked today when I had my snow tires put on. You were correct the CA was low and the reading on the meter recommended that I replace the battery. I now have a new battery and have my fingers crossed that the next cold day my heat kicks on. Thanks for your help.
