So heres the deal. My Optima took a crap today, Happy Easter. My "spare" battery now has 2 dead cells, so I need a new battery tommorow.
I wanted to get another Optima, until I saw the prices of them. I bought mine for $112 from Advance Auto 3 years ago, now its like $160-$180? wtf?
I really would not like to spend that money right now. So where do I go from here? I have no idea what is good or bad. I have advance auto, autozone, and a walmart local to me.

Did a battery test actually confirm the Optima was dead? I've had my optima for about 4 years now (in 3 different cars, lol) and its still going strong.
I know you can buy them online a bit cheaper then AutoZone but at the same time you need to get your car running....sometimes you just have to spend the extra $$$ when you're in a pinch like that.

I run an Optima in all my cars.
Anyway, I don't know about where you are, but here's a little story from you.
There is a small little shop where I live that buy's damaged batteries from all the big retailers. When I say damage - I mean cosmetic. Scratches, plastic tears, etc. Anyway, this guy sells them for around $30 for a brand new $100 battery. I used to buy batteries from him all the time to put in my beaters.
Moral of the story - check around for battery stores in your area that may do the same.
