ls idle up and down and smoke from engine
i have a 96 ls400 took the erg, icv, MAF, a throttle body off and cleaned them. changed spark plugs and wires, changed thermostat and flush and replace coolant running the pink coolant. started the engine up everything fine but then the idle goes crazy and smoke come from engine can some one please assist me asap
ok so i turn the engine on and then turned off ran to the engine and i can hear something like a vacuum leak but cant find it for nothing is there some kind of diagram that shows all the vacuum lines???????
Did you loose the egr gasket? And since you cleaned yOur throttle body your car isn't used to breathing so well so you need to drive it to relearn or just disconnect your battery for a little while and speed up the process. You could use a brake clean or throttle plate cleaner to try and pin point the vacumm leak by spraying it where you think you hear it and seen If you can find where it is exactly when the idle raises
Are you getting smoke out of the tailpipe? Or smoke from the engine compartment?
You may have a bad power steering vaccuum valve causing the engine to suck up fluid from the power steering pump. This could be causing the smoke. If you hear a vaccuum leak, obviously you need to track that down asap, as it could be greatly effecting your idle quality. Take your time. Go grab a propane torch, and use it, unlit, and pass it around all of the vaccuum lines, and see if the idle changes. If you find a place where the idle changes, then you found your leak.
