Itried to buy some oil today at Advance for the ES and all they had was 4qt jugs.. What happened to the 5 qt?

 

They are over at Wal-Mart: $21.99 for 5W-30 and $26.99 for 5W-30 (Extended Performance).

In my neck of the woods, you can get a pack of little jugs (comes out to 6qts I think ) at Costco of Mobil 1 for a decent price.

 

mobil 1 10w-30 5 quart jug(5000 clean)-$9.64
mobil 1 10w-30 5 quart jug- $23.64

Does anyone know the difference? Also, why is everyone using 5w-30? Isn't 10w-30 recommended for the 2jz?

 

I believe mobil 1 10w-30 5 quart jug(5000 clean)-$9.64 is just group II oil (meaning mineral oil - the conventional dino stuff with some cleaning agents), while mobil 1 10w-30 5 quart jug- $23.64 is group III oil (meaning its really refined mineral oil)

 

NO, I read both jugs and both say GF-4 and have the petroleum star.

 

they sell the 4 qt ones at like autozone and pepboys. you'll need to head to walmart to find the 5 qt jugs.

Mobil Clean 5000 is conventional/dino oil
Mobil Clean 7500 is a synthetic blend
Mobil 1 is fully synthetic.

Thus the difference in price. Please don't ask which is better as wars have begun over that question. Use the search function.

Personally, I prefer the 5W over a 10W just because New England winters are very cold and the 5W has better viscosity at really low temps.
