Air bag light flashing

Ok, I get in the car today and the air bag light starts flashing. I tried disconnecting the battery terminal and that did no good. I've searched on here and I didn't find any other threads that gave much info. Anybody have any thoughts? I know that it needs to go to the dealer, according to the manual anyway, but I'm just wondering if any of you guys have had the same problem and what the solution was.

I'm a little fed up with the car right now. All within the last several thousand miles the A/F sensor went bad, front strut mounts, front and rear sway bar bushings and now this. I honestly didn't anticipate that a 90K Lexus was going to be costing me this kind of money for things that should't be breaking. I've had plenty of honda's and toyota's with many more miles than this and they just don't break. What's going on?

a flashing SRS warning light on my 02 means that the side and curtain shield airbags and/or seat belt pretensioners fail.

I don't know if the 99 comes with side and curtain airbags, so I will guess you seat belt pretensioners are tripping the warning light.

Yeah, in the manual it says that a flashing airbag light indicates a problem with the side airbag system...

Thanks for the different ideas. The light is off right now so I'm going to hold off on taking it to the dealer. I don't know if any of this is related, but last night the vsc and vsc off light came on. No check engine light with either which I'm glad about. The last time that happend I had to have one of the A/F sensors replaced. I guess that it's possible that there is a ground problem somewhere or the air bag light and vsc lights were a total coinsidence. Thanks again.

check your battery cables and see if they have loosened up.

I had the same problem

I had the same problem on my dad's 1999 ES300.

Replace the battery.
I am nearly 99.99% certain by replacing the battery, you will fix the problems.

I had the same issue with the Airbag light, Traction lights, ABS, etc ....for about 2 weeks.
My mechanic replaced the battery .. no problems for over 5 weeks.

P.S. If this does not fix the problem, take your car to your local Lexus dealership. Don't take chances with your life.
