You have to look at the number on the spark plug itself. The heat range or gap may be difference even know both plugs are platinum.

Look in your owners manual index under "engine specifications" . Turn to the "engine specifications" page and there it will tell you exactly what Nippondenso or NGK spark plugs to use.

johnee, you're correct; the Denso plug part # for your '93 GS is IK16. Here's the page listing all available spark plugs for your car:

Thanks for the links Lexusk8 I've been reading through the Spark Plug 411 section and it states that iridium plugs last longer and allow the manufacturer to use a very fine (thin) electrode so it takes less voltage to jump the gap, which in turn helps with power and gives fewer misfires. It also said that Denso iridiums have an electrode size of 0.4mm and the NGK iridiums are 0.7mm (regular plugs are 2.0-2.5mm). Since there is around a $25 difference between a set of Denso Iridiums and NGK iridiums, it's really no big deal to get the best.

My question is, does the difference of .3mm between the Denso and NGK make much of a difference?
