Default No Longer LX Owner

After waiting for 2 years for the custom order and then owning it for 2 years I have decided to sell the LX600. I had one too many instances of the transmission going into limp mode pulling out of shopping centers or intersections. iT HAS BEEN REFLASHED 3X TO NO AVAIL. Also the rear tv's never worked. I have had a 2021 LS500 and this 2023 LX600 and honestly neither of them measured up to my old LS430, LS460L, and LX570 in terms of true old school luxury and reliability.

It will be the first time in 20 years I will not have a Toyota Lexus product. I hope they go back to old school luxury like BMW did with the 7 series and hopefully bring out a true full size SUV.

The main intent of this post is to warn anyone who may have their wife driving one of these to please be careful with the transmission lag and limp mode. It almost created a bad accident for my wife and 2 little kids in the car. I am patient with things breaking but not when safety is concerned.

Yeah its pretty bad in my 24. Even manually downshifting it won’t get it into first without some major transmission confusion and delay. Speeds between 4-9mph when you need acceleration power.

Unfortunately I feel it’s for some Kool-Aide drinking carbon emissions virtue signal like the auto start stop the dealer can’t turn off or the 0W-20 oil etc.

Fortunately you can change the oil and programming is available.

Wait, you can't turn S/S off in the LX600? Another reason to avoid it like the plague.

$40 and 30 minutes of your time and you can get the Auto S/S permanently turned off.

Yes, I know, a $110k vehicle should have a switch, but there is a work around. It’s been discussed here on this page.

The dealer can not disable it.

You can turn it off at each start or hardwire a a bypass.

Very strong indication that the kool-aide was drank. Luckily some of this can be fixed.

The LX 600 is really no different than any car these days. You can thank the CAFE regulation for the implementation of A/S functionality to eek out a little better mileage.

And all cars I have been in recently, have it on as the default start up mode. At least there is a switch to turn if off and a solution to permanently disable it.

So you can or can't disable S/S in an LX600?

I wouldn't buy one anyway but that's a dealbreaker. (So are no power running boards for $130k that you could get on a 2014 Denali.)

Lexus is just a shell of the brand they once were.

Once we get that LC vert it's all over for Lexus cars.

No hesitation issues so far on our LX, but only 400 miles on it so far. Also not a fan of the S/S, does seem they placed the switch in an obscure location that you have to find (our RX it’s right by the shifter). No S/S on the LC though!

The L/C is hybrid, so S/S is built in with the transition from gas to battery and battery to gas. Same in the LX700.

My LC is all gas V8. Just did the Lexus Performance School in Indy, no Hybrids were used. Just LC's (large track), RCF's (drifting and large track pace cars) and ISF's (autocross).

Our LX is the 600 and was chosen specifically to eliminate the 5" battery hump in the cargo area for the dogs access.

My '24 LX600 has a button to turn off Auto Start/Stop. I think it's only the hybrids that don't have it. I also installed the module to permanently disable it. It took about five minutes and works great. I don't ever have to deal with the stupid Auto S/S anymore.
I also don't have any issues with transmission slip or limp mode. Honestly, I think this vehicle is amazing. I still have my LC 200, and thought I'd miss the V8, but I love my LX. I'm sorry the OP had all those issues. I'm wondering if they did some fixes for the '24s.

I also have a '24 LX 600 and love it. I don't have any issues with the transmission. It's definitely not as smooth as the ZF8 transmission in my BMW, but its fine for me.

I've had many Lexus vehicles over the years, ISF, GS350, GSF, NX300, RX350. The transmissions have always been the weak point in my experience. Ok, but not great.

Actually, I'll say the ISF was the exception. The transmission was pretty damn good in this car. It might have used a ZF, but not sure.

The LC 500 in my opinion is the best and highest quality Lexus currently available. It fortunately is designed and built with with the old school iconic past generations Lexus quality. It is robust and overbuilt by design.

I started that thread of the auto ss disable. I Installed the module. Please note that module also affects the rear tailgate. It fried the sensors on the tailgate and the rear gate was out of comission for a month waiting on new sensors. I would not install the module.
