How many gallons are you guys averaging per fill up? NOT MPG, but actual qty gallons of gas? I know the tank is 24.6Gal, but seems like I usually only ever fill up 18-19 or so. Is that normal?

 

I only have about 3k miles total, but I was actually wondering the same thing. I fill about 17-18 gallons, but that is before the light comes on. One time I waited until the light was on, and it was still below 20 gallons, roughly 19 from what I recall.

Sounds like a pretty big reserve.

I also find that most pumps stop early and often during filling as well. I sometimes have to hold the pump handle halfway to fill more slowly. And that is NOT to top off. Anyone else experience this?

 

I fuel up about the same 18 - 19. I think I read that mentioned the LX has a decent size reserve in the tank... ?

 

I tapped into the reserve a couple times and I managed 21 gals, roughly same computed mileage per tank though. IMO reserve is bigger than it should be but hey at least I know its there.

 

Thius shows that there is about q 5 gallon reserve built into the fuel gauge. I have got 20.5 gallons one time and the gauge was well below E.

How much you can get in the tank is dependent on how far you want to run it with past empty showing on the gauge.

 

Apparently the gas gauge is not always calibrated well. The only fix is over 1000$ at the dealer. When mine is over 3/4 empty and the computer shows 30 miles left then I can pump 20 gallons. When the computer shows 0 then there is no gas left it will run out of gas. Yes I have done it. At this point the gauge shows close to empty. The light never comes on. I got close to 23 gals into that empty tank and close to 300 miles driven. Don't trust the gauges, reset trip meter for gal driven since last fill up, know your car. Drive it like an airplane.

Always fill up every 100 miles.

 

Mine is not that far off as on my LX if the gauge say it is half empty, I usually can get about 10 gallons. At a quarter from empty I get a 15 gallons. It is pretty close but I am betting the gauge varies from one unit to another.
