Default Discounts

Given the global financial meltdown, has anyone seen discounts starting on the 09? I can't imagine they are still at MSRP but its possible. Any observations from folks in the field? Thanks.

Brand new 2009's that have just barely hit lot?

You must be joking.

On a demo 2008, sure. Maybe on a new 2008, depending on color.

In my area. We now have three LX570 that have been sitting on the lot for a while now. Discounts should be coming next.

Took my wife to testdrive the LX yesterday. Our local dealer in San Diego has 3 08s and 4 09s on the lot. Because I'm not sure that it's the vehicle for us I didn't press the salesman too hard re pricing. I just casually asked what we'd be looking at price-wise. His immediate response was that an 09 with an MSRP of $84,691 could be had for $80,000 even. I don't know about other areas but here in San Diego we're already looking at $4,700 off MSRP.

Why?

Have you tried shopping the Land Cruiser?

After driving the LX we went right to the Toyota dealer. But, due to limited time available, we didn't drive the Land Cruiser. We drove the Sequoia Platinum. I figure if we decide we can do without all the cargo capacity of the Sequoia we'll then come back and compare back-to-back the LX and the LC. We definitely enjoyed the LX alot, and it's what I'm leaning towards. I'll need to get over the fact that with the seats raised it's got less room behind the 2nd row than my 06 GX (with seats normally stored in the garage), never mind our 07 Sienna we'd be getting rid of. We don't frequently need alot of room but it sure is convenient to just throw kids bikes back there easily. The Sequoia Platinum would be the choice if it had the 2nd row side airbags and superior braking of the LX.

You should drive the Land Cruiser. The new 200 series Land Cruiser is my favorite large Toyota SUV. The suspension is more truck like and the interior is much different than the LX. If reliability is a concern for you then the Land Cruiser comes with a lots less electronic parts...there is no power rear hatch, cameras, adjustable suspension, power rear seats. Not sure if this matters to you!

While I did like the LX470 over the 98-07 LC I much prefer the new Land Cruiser. I was very suprised how much I liked it.

Not really, they really don't make that many, so stock is down, even hard to find certain colors and specific upgrades. They made less than 10,000 last year 2008.
