460 engine on the 430?
While talking to a friend today, I was wondering if the 460 engine was ever retro-fitted on a 430?
I would love to have that done, almost +100 horsepower increase.
What do you guys think about it?
Hmmm, an LS1, not bad, not bad at all.
But the idea of fitting a 460 engine seems easier and more simple, hence that it is the successor of the 430.
But I think a 430 on the huge very heavy 460 will do it more bad than good. It will feel slow as a turtle with no legs.
On the other hand, I hear turbo's have lots of problems and require lots and lots of maintenance.
that being said i exhaust all efforts on the board to promote the use of mobil 1 extended performance for the fact of preserving one of the top v-8 motors ever made amazing motor in our 430 the linear torque curve, the ability to rev when needed with power all the way thru the torque range and the bulletproof reliability
true miracle motor safe driving

The LS460 has only 80 hp more then the 430. Not really that much more. I would want at least 150 - 250 more hp if I was going to go to all that trouble. Also, the 430 transmission and all the drive-line won't fit a 460 engine.

Stick with Occam's Razor. Go with the simplest solution.
Good luck.
One of the most common problems is after an oil change the engine gets incredibly sluggish ,to the point that its a safety issue for the drivers. they think its because the loud valves, which is the loud tapping Bob spoke about, sets off the knock sensor , and messes up the timing, they have no known cure for it.
They also have a valve problem and the top half of the engine needs to be rebuilt in some cases, its a nightmare .
If your looking for power id just turbo the 3uz, I think we have plenty of room under the hood for it.
*****, wow i have never knew. What you're saying about Japanese engineering doesn't really make sense to me, maybe different engineers than those who have worked on the 430?
