Default 3GS 460 engine into 2GS body

What will it take to implant the 3GS engine into a 2nd gen GS? Is the engine bay in the 3GS larger than the 2GS? If the Tundra 4.7 can fit, why not the 4.6?

I don't know what it cost in the junkyard but it would be nice to see some do it.

I've been thinking about this ever since the 460's debut, I would love to have that engine in my classic bodystyle 430, if anyone knows if it can be done please post up !!

looking at both side by side earlier it would fit with no issues, custom mounts might be needed but that's always expected. not sure about the electronics might be crazy haven't looked at that at all

Remember the GS 460 is rated at 342hp and the LS 460 engine is rated at 380hp and they are the same engine. Our thoughts and research have concluded its b/c the LS has dual intakes to the GS single along with possible ECU tuning.

If you do this project I would recommend the LS engine (it is the same thing). The engine is coupled to the new 8 speed automatic transmission as well.

Would you swap the 8 speed transmission in too? Sounds like a lot of money.

I've always wondered if the 6 speed auto from the 3GS430 could be swapped into a 2GS430.

also the wiring the new motor/trans with all the computers attached will probably be a nightmare good luck getting all the sensors and such working properly for traction control and all the other features.

that being said, the ls460 8 speed and motor set would be awesome in a lighter car than the LS. lsd rear end in and watch the car really scream
