LS500 Too Complicated
I lease a 2018 LS500 and have for three years. I have leased or owned a Lexus for 29 years and love the cars. But this LS500 is not the car for me. I have to go through six steps to turn on the seat warmer. Opening the sun roof (it used to just have a sliding cover) is via a switch above your head. You can wreck the car just trying to find the switch. Visibility is horrible with all the 4" wide posts framing the back windows. Just a blind spot. I can go on and on. Consumer Reports gave the car a rating of 52, when Accords, the Genesis G90 and the Avalon were getting 90's. I am turning in the car in 6 weeks. I have already bought my replacement car: a 2017 LS460. Back to manageable technology. I don't think the LS500's great looks inside and out will save it though. Are all luxury cars ruining themselves with fancy electronics?

My GS has voice controls for pretty much everything, I'd imagine the LS has similar if not better functionality with voice controls.
A blind spot mirror combined with the cameras is the best option for modern cars with less visibility in the rear.

Climate Concierge is the intended solution, set and forget. Tap up the temp a degree and the heated
seat comes on low. Tap up a couple degrees and the seat jumps to level two and the steering wheel
heater comes on. Passenger side is off until someone joins you. Temps and fans ramp down as the
car (and you) warm up.
The satellite band records up to 60 minutes of programing for 20 of the 36 presets. When you surf
into a preset channel you get the very beginning of the song or discussion. Our smart phones do
a couple of things better than our flip phones did, just gotta know when to fold em.

I hear where you're coming from. On my CT it was so easy to turn on the radio and select a source. One tap on each clearly labeled physical buttons to tap my source or my station pre-set. With my new 2021 ES I just bought, I have to perform 4D chess in my mind to select a source by tapping several buttons on the screen by clicking around on a mouse pad that either goes too slow or too fast. Volume up and down on the steering wheel? Can no longer be done by feel with raised buttons. The buttons are flush/flat for aesthetics so I have to look down on the wheel.

I can definitely see the frustration with the seat heater situation. And yes I agree that heated/cooled seats should be buttons, not buried in the screen. Having said that, the 2021 LS has a dedicated button to take you to this screen directly and it's also a touch screen. So a step in the right direction but buttons are preferable. Also using voice commands with the LS 500 are light years ahead of the LS 460. So much easier!
Key to voice commands are: she doesn't talk as fast as I do... wait for the trill before speaking
and always start with a verb... dial 987-765-3211, call John Smith mobile, find nearby Dunkin',
tune 93.1 FM, raise temperature.

A car is as good as its tech, and the tech is far more manageable in the 2017 model." And you get a full-size spare in the 2017 where there is no run-flats like in the 2018.
Congrats on your 2017!

I think that's how I ended up getting mine cause the person who had it before only put 9000 miles on it.
