Default For the next Googler

^, so, my system miraculously recovered after sitting a week and prior to the new parts being installed…i now have 1070 CP in my 2018.

All my questions from my post above were answered by paying 20 bucks for a two day subscription to TIS. Download/view everything you need.

It’s also a good way to look at build sheets (or you can temporarily add cars to your garage in lexus app too) and see service campaign info specific to a VIN. Both are good shopping tools.

The problem is it does not have Apple Carplay. Even a base Hyundai has Apple Carplay!
Now I see the Toyota Avalon, and the new Lexus UX and ES, will have Apple Carplay.

So how the hell can these offer it, and not the so-called flagship, the LS 500!!

My expectation is that once the new UX and ES hit the market, Lexus will do the right thing and offer (at no cost) a retrofit of Apple Carplay to those customers who spent a great deal of money, on average over $100,000 on the LS500.

If Tesla can do wireless updates, why can't Lexus do an update to enable the 2018 LS 500 to run Carplay. The vehicle already has Siri Eyes Free!!
ls500 apple car play is now available. Check with your dealership. Just got mine done

seems you Americans are blessed with Lexus. Here in Spain, they keep on saying there is no way to install Apple Car Play...And no further explanations

Jumped online and saw the Internet already had it figured out (of course)...read the LSB, remembered the charger and knew instantly what they did wrong...oh well.

Anyway, I'm concerned about them tearing the dash up to replace the system and want to know how difficult it is to do? I found a YouTube video of a guy removing some panels and center console to get behind dash and I will check those panels/clips upon pick up, but does anyone know the procedures to replace the DCU? How much more needs to be torn out. Just panels and 10mm bolts? Or what?

Thanks.
hiw did they “brick” your system?

They did so by failing to follow directions and attempted to install the update with ignition on but engine off

They also cracked the oil filter housing…

Hi Ziad,

I got the same model#. Did you try to contact Lexus regional office by any chance to push them to do it for you? Its ridiculous that only M.E countries are not getting this update

lets keep in touch, hopefully we can put some pressure on the regional office to do something about it

Lexus Europe is worthless. If I knew I would NEVER buy Lexus in the first place! The car isn't cheap and you feel you were robbed by zero response on multiple questions "why"! Why in the USA you can get CarPlay installed and here you can't ?!?

I feel your frustration and we are stuck on the same boat

Maybe you should contact Lexus Japan directly at this point

I can't 🙊 They, Lexus Japan are modern ninjas, hiding very well from all of us, the stupid dudes, who wanted to complain about things that do not belong to the year 2022

Blaming Lexus for not installing or supporting aftermarket items seems misguided.

Hi my friend! I felt your disappointment, let's try to fix it firstly, here is a list of cars that have been updated worldwide since 2018 - 2018 Model Year: Apple CarPlay is available through retrofit for select 2018 models as well. The 2018 NX, RC, RC F, LC, and LS can all receive the Apple CarPlay retrofit from our Certified Lexus Service Center. there is an update even for all Toyotas from 2018

and so there are two options : EU car and US car
1:dealer
2: download the updates yourself from the Toyota-Lexus website and install https://www.lexus-tech.eu/ in 3 hours, just watch the instructions very carefully.
my 500 awd will arrive within a week and if there is no option in it, then I myself will have to download software for america since it is from there, but I have already done this on other Lexus models after 2018
