Just purchased a 2019 LS 500 AWD. It has sat on the dealer lot for about 10 months. The fuel door was very loose/floppy. Dealer ordered new complete hinge section. Door is now tight and doesn't flop.

I didn’t get a chance to try the extend opening trick. My car is in the shop now getting a new gas door hinge. (Actually during their attempt to replace the door they dropped door and scratched the paint on the door, so now it’s in the paint shop getting repainted... what else can go wrong, love the LS400, but this LS500, these minor details, including a smell of antifreeze periodically that can not be found... enough already!!!)

Sooo ... sounds like we're SOL and the gas door that wont stay open is a design flaw?

That's what this thread is indicating to me. Do I need to work on my reading comprehension? lol

check out post 31 and post 35. They seem to indicate a fix is available.

Dealer replaced the hinge today on my 500h. Seems to work, but time will tell. Dealer confused on how to replace. At first they thought they would need to remove the rear seat to get to the bolts. My rear seat is massage and power adjustable and heated. They planned six hours. A day later it was ready, but they said it was accessible from the trunk.

The dealer finally replaced my hinge, and now it is working..., for now... repainted the door fix also came out great.
