**** happens but if it does Im good. its why I bought a Toyota product is take my chances with reliability.

Key is do you like/love the car? Then you figure your finances to keep it. Me? I buy mine a few years old with low miles and pay cash. No payments to compound pain of repairs. I did not do this forever mind you, Im in early 60's and invested for decades so I have the liquidity to do what makes sense for me. Thus we all NOT in the same situation/demographic Thus the decision really is not about protection for the car, but do you need the financial protection the risk presents? We all in different situations to influence our warranty decisions. No right or wrong.

I did get a warranty with A BMW and they did not pay for a $3000 item and I was pissed. Headlamp was drawing moisture and needed replacement. I had a BMW extended warranty mind you. They said "We don't cover adhesives on parts". Can't fuse the lens to the housing without glue!!! I argued it was a defective part. They repeated their stance. second light did the same thing and I did a minor fix and sold them the car at a nice price. I did not love the car enough to put up with the running costs and issues. Car had 67k miles on it was always needed something. Had BMW's for years and really enjoyed my experiences until the end.
Im now on my second Lexus and very happy. Wife been an Audi lover for years and we been having good luck with her 2018 A4 all road with 75k miles on it. Im sure we'll go with a Lexus/Toyota when the time comes. We don't drive as much as we used to and prefer simplicity/reliablity over cutting edge dynamics. We are not as "enthusiastic" about our cars as we used to. But this current LS500 with its uber Japanese interior "Zen garden" design is really one that captivates me and im totally into its design. This is a big departure from the teutonic design of the German build or what LS designs of the past. LS was a lower priced S class that was reliable and great to drive. This LS does not attempt to mimic any German car. Not all love it and I can understand. Me? The interior door design really drew me in. Fascinating interpretation of class Japan art/design. So to me this car is a bargain of sorts.
Hello Nalod....I'm pretty much in the same boat as you...except I generally buy new with good resale value, however, I purchased a new IS 500 in February and not crazy about if. To small for me and I'm 70. Been thinking about late model LS 24 or newer, as I am not a fan of the touch pad and want 3.0 safety sense. not many around. Found a one owner at dealership with 3000 miles sold by same dealer. They want 82k for it. Msrp was 94305... sounds high to me. only frame of reference is nada guide says trade in value under 70 k... any words of wisdom, guidance is defiantly appreciated. The dealer claims this year is end of production, with only a heritage edition coming, I haven't heard that22's seem to be just under 60k... not prepared to lose 20k in 2 years.

Your IS500 is a pretty high in demand care given the V8's are ending their run.
I assume your trading it in?
They giving you a good value to trade if so?
Its about the spread.
IN this environment you pay a premium for what you want. Is it the right color and equipment?

I, probably will trade in the IS as it is becoming more challenging to sell private nowadays/
Probably will cost me around 20-23 cash difference...probably can get a 26LC for 40k difference.
The LS is nicely equipped , white with palomino ,air ride, 20 inch wheels and comfort package..

I'd think the LC would also be kind of "Snug" fit as well? Its one sweet ride though!!!! Fit and finish is amazing for the money!!
As for the pad vs. touch screen I really don't engage it much other than for audio and those have button choices for the most part.
For sure when you first get the car and set it up but otherwise its non issue as one gets used to it. But the safety stuff is very cool and I get why its attractive.

Two very different choices. The LS500 is a great place to be but to me lacks the driving dynamic the IS500 and LC500 as drivers cars.
I came from years of BMW's sedans and coupes and a GS350 Fsport. A 2020 in fact which I liked but the seduction of doing a trade with same miles on car for only 15k was a great upgrade when I did it. I paid 56k for my 2019, similar to what to what your looking at except no air suspension. The Mark Levinson audio had me at hello! This was January of 2023.
I'd think your IS500 would be very desirable given its the last of its kind.
