Hi guys,

I saw many threads but Isn’t there a way you can just connect aux to iPhone and mirror to iPad mini or something to use the google maps and play music?
there’s gotta be a cheaper way of doing this instead of VLine and other installs. If you have any ideas please let me know. Thank you

 

Have you tried asking this question on an Apple forum? This may be more of an apple issue than a Lexus issue.

 

Not the full answer to your intended result (audio And Video) but you can change a setting
in Google Maps (and WAZE) so that the prompts and warnings will play through the Bluetooth
connection and you will hear them. Go into the Settings of Google Maps and the round blue
icon to the right of the search bar. Open up the Settings and then select Navigation. Now you
will see Sound & Voice, enable both Play Voice over Bluetooth and then Play as Bluetooth phone
call. How does your LS respond to a phone call? Mutes the media and plays the call. When you
are driving with GM or Waze running you will see an incoming phone call...with your number...and
hear the prompt or warning. It will then hang up and your program will resume.

 

does the same thing with iPhone plugged in. Listen to podcasts or audiobook and running waze I get directing audio prompts through stereo, pauses the book or music or program then resumes. Just not the video component which is generally ok with me, I can keep OEM nav in maps screen to also see location, traffic etc. without a destination plugged in

This is Apple Car play and Android auto(both wireless). This can be DIY install, it's a little complex but, nothing to hard and there are directions step by step to be able to install it...

This kit is for a 2013-2017 LS....

It's like $280, it's cheaper than an iPad mini and will work on the factory display with factory controls...

Oh, that kit won't help you there. I am not sure on what kit will work.

 

DaveGS4 is correct when you are listening to the phone as a source, streaming music, iTunes or podcasts.
The Play as Bluetooth Phone call is the workaround when listening to any of the car sources, AM/FM/XM or CD.
In the case of the OP we can include Cassette Tape as well.
