Default Headlight washers

Can someone explain to me how these are supposed to work/is there a setting I'm not understanding?

I have an 07 with washers that are part of the actual headlights and not the bumper mounted ones, I'm starting to suspect my car my have an incorrect combination of parts leading to strange behaviors.

When I press the headlight washer button (the one near the instrument panel brightness control) with the headlights lights off nothing happens. When I turn the lights on, again nothing happens. When I'm driving 70 with only the DRLs on and press the same button I get two puffs of mist near the front of the car that implies to me the washer have fired. When I have the lights in the same scenario on nothing appears to happen?

I also read read something along the lines of if I hold the primary windscreen wash control and spray more than 3 seconds worth of fluid the highlights will auto spray as well? Does the button near the brightness control only work at certain times? Is it some sort of toggle that integrates the headlights with the main washers?

Am I just totally misunderstanding how this works? This is the first time I can't figure out something on a car and it's really getting me tied up. Any help would be appreciated.

I did read my manual

Check the fluid supplies and nozzles for clogs. An older car may have some dirt in the reservoir and has passed into the lines and nozzles.

I thought you were exaggerating.......I had fluid on my drivers window and I was standing still!

Got the issue resolved, you guys will judge me but I was just out of fluid in the lines leading to them. I feel like a total dumbass right now, could have avoided asking if I just pressed the button 3 times!

Not pushing the button 3 times was not the dumbass thing. The dumbass thing was not believing a fellow LS Brother.

Just kidding glad you got them working just to prove my point.

True! I just didn't think they would actually design something that excessive, seems overkill lol!
