Default 2008 Lexus 460 wont start

The other day I got in my car to go somewhere and before I could get out of the neighborhood the car began to run very rough and appeared to have lost power. I shut the engine off and waited a minute or so and started it back up. It was still running very rough and check engine light was on saying check VSC system. Drove the car back home and put my OB2 tester on and got P0365 code. Camshaft Position Sensor B bank 1. I replaced the sensor and also the battery. I tried to start the car and its making a noise sort of like when I first noticed the problem while I was driving. The code P0365 is still present even after I cleared it, it came back after I tried starting the car. I inspected the pigtail harness and from what I could tell there was no visible wires. I have ordered a new pigtail but wont get it for a few more days. Any idea what else I might have to check?
thanks in advance

May be the issue with the Alternator or Starter or Battery. Try Replacing all the 3 UNITS AND SEE

The P0365 is a very generic code and could mean a lot of things. And since the sensor is replaced, unlikely it's the problem. You could back-probe both sensor bank A-B and compare the signals. Also you could check if power is going to the sensor.I don't think the Bank A and the Bank B sensor can be swapped but if they are the same(physically) you could switch them and see if the code moves to bank A .

I would be surprised if the starter is bad because the engine is turn over/cranking but wont start, however anything is possible with these cars. The problem began while I was driving the car with loss of power. I was able to restart it several times afterwards that day but it had no power and was making a noise.I pray that its not the starter because that is one job I don't want to tackle from looking at the procedure on You Tube. After I get the new pigtail connector and put it on and it doesn't work, I am afraid its going to have to go to the dealership. I restore classic cars and can easily fix one of them but I am out of my league on some of this stuff on my Lexus.

Gentelmen I appreciate all of your suggestions and thank you so much.

From that, I don't think that starter is bad. It's turning over. The starter is doing it's job. Now, you need fuel. Get a can of starter fluid and spray it into the intake duct while someone is starting the car and if it tries to start, then you have a fuel / Ignition problem not a starter problem. My 2 cents.I like what you said, "I restore classic cars and can easily fix one of them but I am out of my league on some of this stuff on my Lexus."

BTW, I'm busy with my old 76 Chevy Monte Carlo. That's easy compared to my Lexus. I feel your pain.

I sent the car to local Lexus repair shop on Friday. They called me today saying they were able to get the car started but it runs rough and seems to have little power. That code P0365 still exist however. They are thinking the engine needs to be replaced and I disagree with them because this car has 107,000 mile on it I believe they either don't know what is going on with the car or they really don't want to figure out what is wrong. They said they don't know what is wrong. I told them I would send the wrecker to pick the car up. I also told them I dont want to tie 4-6k in an engine for a car that is not worth much more than that. I may get a second opinion.

You did the right thing they are not even sure what the problem is try some other local garage i dont think so you need to replace your whole engine and that too with that less miles

As a long shot, has the throttle body and mass air flow sensor received a good cleaning?

No, but when I get it back tomorrow I will attempt to clean both. I am totally baffled on the problem with this car especially after I sent it to what is considered the best independent shop for Lexus in Houston and they really don't know what the problem his. By the way it cost me 350 bucks without an accurate diagnosis as what the problem is.

Kind of a shot in the dark, but I would check all the fuses/fuse boxes for continuity and use some electrical cleaner on the contacts. As vehicles age, electrical connections get dirty, corrode, wear out. In my experience with older vehicles, these electrical gremlins set in over time without any sign, and then one day they hit without warning. If you can't fix it with a hammer, you probably got an electrical issue.

Keep us updated with your progress in diagnosing this issue. Also, a vacuum leak could cause some of the symptoms your car is experiencing.
