2008 Lexus 460 wont start
Still having the same trouble, no power. I can drive the car but it lacks power. These are the things I have done so far.
1. Replace both cam sensors on Bank 1 the drivers side and the pigtails.
2. Replace the battery
3. New spark plugs
4. Replaced the VVT on the drivers side and that POS broke off while I was trying to get it out of the housing. What a nightmare trying to get it out. Ended up putting a bolt in there to get it out.
5. Cleaned all the connectors I could think of.
6. Still getting code P0365
Is your car lacking power as well and what code are you getting?

Scan did not read any cylinder misfires. I had a concern about cylinder 1 spark plug when I pulled it. It looked to me that it had oil on it. Cylinder 3 plug also had oil on it as well. I switched the coil pack from cylinder 5 to 1 and no change. I constantly keep getting p0365 on the scan reader. I am not sure about the left camshaft timing control motor actuator working properly because I dont know how to test it. I don't want to replace it and hope that resolves the problem because it is about 800.00 or so. I just might have to break down and send this car to the Lexus dealership because I am spinning my wheels replacing this and that.

I feel for ya brother. Did you also get around to cleaning the throttle body (check TB wiring harness/connection also) and MAF sensors?Last edited by lwphat66; Jun 7, 2020 at 09:23 PM. Reason: add'l info
No mine is at an Indy shop and no code, but won’t start. Replaced starter and tested all fuses/relays, battery. battery is 3 months new.
Mechanic says check engine light is mysteriously off when trying to start. It does recognize key fob and goes into ACC.
Car was at shop due to overheating and many cooling parts were replaced like radiator, water pump, thermostat, reservoir tank, etc.
Car started while at shop, but quit starting after all the cooling parts were replaced.
Missing check engine light on start seems to be a clue.

Update
The timing chain broke and in the process it broke a couple of gears on the camshaft. There are no aftermarket camshaft gears. I have decided to let the shop put a used engine in with about 80k miles. It was more cost effect to do it this way. They cant figure out what would make the chain break and said he had never seen one break like that. He said he was surprised that it even would start.
