How long do key fob batteries last?
I saw one post that mentioned that Lexus says they should last 1.5 to two years. I just replaced mine after 1.5 years. Just wondering if that was typical with everybody else.
I just bought a 5-pack of ECR1616s for my wife's Acura - another weird battery I've never seen used in anything else. Most things I need coin batteries for use the standard CR2032, but I guess that's a big big for key fobs.

Be aware if you leave your key fob in the parked & unlocked car for extended periods
of time that the fob battery will draw down quite quickly. Never was a problem to leave
a conventional key and door/trunk lock fob in the car but the Keyless entry system will
be "talking" to the car all night...
Anecdotal stories regarding some mail order bulk battery sources is that they are not
necessarily first line brand name units and may not perform as expected. Even if a
known construction and purchased fresh is left uninstalled it will begin to deteriorate.
By the time you get to the 5th battery in the pack it has been what? 5 -10 years old?

The lithium coin batteries have an expected shelf life that is greater than 10 years when stored at moderate temperatures and humidities.

My LS460 remote battery was dying too quickly. There were couple of reasons at different times.
1. When battery was installed, one of the buttons was somehow in a pressed position that was draining the battery. Once it was reinstalled properly, thing got better.
2. I read and have seen on video about proximity of the battery. It tries to communicate to the car and that drains the battery. Solution was to put it in a foil. I added foil insert where I was storing the remote and the problem went away. It seems to be a safety measure too. Search google for "wrap car remote key in aluminium foil"
