Default TPMS Sensors

I`ll need new tires soon on my 2011 LS 460. I`ll do the P7`s. I want to get new TPMS sensors as I have the originals in now. What do we think about Rock Auto`s Denso 5500103 sensors for $30.79 per? I want a good sensor with no installation problems at a fair price. Thank you for any input or suggestions. Peter

This is what I bought and it's been working fine so the one your looking at should be good also.

Changing them might be a bit premature. My 2007 is just 2 weeks shy of its 11th birthday and all my sensors are still working fine.

They all report psi's 1 to 2 lbs. higher than actual, but they've always done that.

Thanks! I didn't know they had that much life span.

I notice the 2+ lbs higher situation, do you know why?

For those replying "find a better tire shop", it's worth noting that the sequence of events went like this:

1) Tire shop (national chain) said that while they can Dx the issue, they haven't had great luck with replacing the part. They encourage me to go to Lexus.
2) I call my long-time repair shop. They too tell me it's a finicky part, so they choose to not do them due to customer dissatisfaction. They encourage me to go to Toyota/Lexus.
3) I call the closest Toyota dealer, tell them it's the rear passenger sensor (as confirmed by tire shop scan). I drop it off, go for a leisurely lunch, and come back after 3 hours, not yet finished. DH drops me off, and I wait another hour, check in again. Told they're road testing it, more info soon. I wait ANOTHER hour, to find my service writer has left for the day without calling/texting me with results. I get another service writer, who then proceeds to tell me it's the right rear passenger sensor. I KNOW THAT. I TOLD YOU THAT WHEN I MADE THE APPOINTMENT. oops, no part in stock, no repair, would you care to come back next week, we'll make sure to have the part.
4) I call the further-away Toyota dealership, which is closer to work, and they've done maintenance on my RX350. THEY refuse to to do the work, as they're "not sure" that the TPMS sensor is the same on the Highlander vs. the RX. They recommend I go to Lexus.

So, because I work 50 hours per week, and I'm trying to get the car ready to sell/trade in, and it's important to get the damn idiot light off the dashboard, I took it back to the first Toyota dealership, which FINALLY fixed the problem.

Finding another tire shop, when the Toyota dealers and independent repair shops and a national tire shop confessed they weren't confident they could fix it? Um, no. I took what I could get.

I have an 07 460 and because I needed new tires I had Discount Tire put them on and as I figured my TPMS sensors also should be replaced after some 12 years of use I had
Discount Tire also put new TPMS sensors on the rims along with the new tires. They used a hand held tablet to "wake up" the sensors, and they have been working just fine.

PSI is interesting in that it is altitude sensitive.

For example, I live at 6000 feet altitude and when I use my new digital tire gauge it reads 37 psi to get my car display to read 33 psi.
Therefore there is a 4 pound psi difference with my altitude.
I am told that at sea level the car's display input from each tire's TPMS and the hand held gauge reading should be identical
and this is because the TPMS sensors are calibrated at sea level from the maker, this is what discount tire tells me.
I do not need to understand it but it is apparently to do with the difference between relative air pressure and atmospheric air pressure.

Thank you for your support colfax. You are correct the altitude will effect the tires pressure. Also the tires pressure goes up when the tires are heated up.

Lasted 12 years on my 07 Taco, and all sensors still working on our 07 ES350. Bought aftermarket Autel sensors and their TS408PRO programming scanner tool to replace the sensors in the Taco. New sensors have been installed but haven't got around to programming them. The tool reads and copies the sensor ID from the OEM sensors and programs the info into the new sensors. So, I don't need to mess with programming new codes into the ECM.
