Default TPMS doing weird things.

So for a few days one of the TPMS sensors was telling me the PSI was at 26 or something like that.. I filled up the air but it still remained at checking and it will not show the ca reading AT all on that side. So few questions:

1. Is this normal behaviour?
2. that procedure for benchmarking the TPMS i should set the air to say 32 or 33 then benchmark it.. will it fix the problem?

I assume that once it gave you a warning if u filled up air should it not read the correct pressure?

When you filled up the tire with air, did you check all of them and/or verify that the tire indicated on the dash was really the one that was low?

yeah the front driver's side looked soft and after i filled it i checked no further air loss but the tpms remains at checking for that one particular one and will not indicate a number now.

go to Discount Tire and ask them to "wake up" your TPMS sensors with a tablet they carry out to the car

Just make sure you check all five tires. The positions could be incorrect, and you might really have a tire that's at 26 psi.

Happened to me before. Warning light came on while driving but no tire pressure reading at all - "checking" all the time.
Dealer diagnosed as not detecting TPMS due to weak or dead TPMS battery.

Interesting I'll pump up the spare try to rebenchmark and use a friend's odb to test the sensors if possible but will try get a spare sensor to be ready

You need a new sensor. It's checking because the ECU can't find it most likely due to a dead sensor battery. I had to change 1 of mine due to the same thing. I checked it in Techstream to confirm.

Did you check the tire pressure of your spare tire?

No i did not but i assume it is the one that is showing around 30 or something like that on the list it is showing as 2nd and the one with the problem is showing on the 3rd slot..I only filled the 4 tires and it was stuck at checking for a bit but yesterday and today all the sensors are reading. I am gonna guess that one of the sensors is going out, I swapped out the spare wheel to the front passenger side when I changed to summers this season. Coz that one was pretty bad shape.

The position in the screen doesn’t matter. It sounds like it’s your spare. I had this issue last year. It’s easy to get access to it. It’s in the trunk.

I know the position doesnt matter lol, what I am trying to say is the position doesnt change unless you change where the wheels go I think, I dont think it shuffles on the screen each time you look at it. What I am trying to say if if I filled up all the tires including the one that is 26 up to 33 and theres one thats been showing 30 and remains 30 after I filled up all of them, then it makes sense that the one that is showing 30 is the spare.. anyways i went down just down and checked them all again and also filled up the spare. and everything is reading ok now just as it was the past few days. lets hope it stays that way
